Well, that game is one of my SE Ohio tour stops, so we will see. I have no skin in the game anymore, so my point-of-view will be objective. Let's see how this plays out when MC comes down to Beverly this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have another woulda, shoulda, coulda game.......at least according to a one fan....  ;-)

Had a little preview of the Frontier football team in the Marietta paper today. Should have a pretty good squad. Not really sure of their schedule, but i'm guessing they'll finish right around where they were last year, something like 7-3 or 8-2. Start off the season @ Shenandoah I believe. Their coach also stated he expects Monroe Central and Caldwell to challenge for the title, and that Caldwell will be the most improved team.

It is really going to be a toss up when it comes to FF,Caldwell, and Frontier.Monroe is the head of the class.Frontier is very weak up front which is a strength of FF and Caldwell.

Agree that Monroe is pretty much above everyone else. I don't know what Frontier's lines will look like, but at least on offense, with Fickisien (sp?) returning he should be able to make the right reads rather quickly. Plus I believe they have a pretty good RB returning as well. There are ways to take advantage of things like an opposing teams aggressive pass rush and such. I mean, I haven't seen Frontier's team or anything, but if their O-line is smaller than most other team's D-lines, then its possible they're quicker. They could use things like draws, sweeps, screens, etc. to great effectiveness.

What did Fort Frye lose and what do they have returning? Haven't heard much from them this offseason.

As far as Caldwell goes, they should improve in several areas but they might take a step back in an area or two. Todd at LB is going to be really hard to replace, and i'm not sure who they'll use to move into that spot. Sayre should improve and he'll have a big target at TE with Morris. They'll need some new WR's to step up though as I think they lost a couple to graduation.

Checkout the Fort Frye thread and it will tell you everything. They have a huge line and a great RB in Colton Skinner.Eddie Watson is a great athlete coming off a huge year as a WR.He could end up as starting Qb or at WR.If he don't start look for some wildcat.Spencer Lang is the TE a kid that catches everything.Riley Dixon who decided the Caldwell game with his saftey vs Caldwell has added like 60 pds of muscle and is benching 400.

Just read the Fort Frye thread. They have some decent size in some places on the O-line, but I wouldn't label it as "huge". Did Smith or Watson play QB after Robinson went down last year? Pretty young on the outside too. For right now, i'll say Fort Frye finishes at either 6-4 or 7-3. Losses to MC and Caldwell. Then the games between Frontier, Shenandoah, and Rosecrans could probably all go either way.

Watson started vs Rosecrans he is an athlete a little out of position.Shon Smith is a sophmore with gobs of talent. He dident play last year.He went 6-1 in jr high as a starter. He had 18 tds and only 4 picks.

I think everyone should just toss in the towel right now and not even play. Sounds like Fort Frye is going to be the best team, regardless of division, in SE Ohio, in almost a 100 mile radius........ Let's hand them the PVC crown and let them walk into the playoffs, completely healthy and untested..... The cadets just sound like a complete jugernaut.......

    :122246  8)

If Watson was the QB during the Caldwell game, that's kind of what I was thinking to. Good athlete, but just didn't look like a true QB. Looks like Fort Frye is going to be a very run heavy team.

Watson has been working on his passing all summer. If Smith starts at QB then Watson becomes one of the leagues top WR.He has shown the ability to get open with his height and speed.

After last night scrimmage you have to noticed that FF might have more weapons then anyone in the league.Spencer Lang is a sophmore and might be the player to watch.Last night he scored 3 times including a 70 yard run,2 yard run,and a 65 yard td catch.Colton Skinner had over 100 yards rushing and 2 tds.Eddie Watson showed he can play both QB and WR.He busted a 70 yard td run on the last play of the game.FF just has a lot of speed.I think rotating QBs could work and have success. The defense looked good as well as Bates had 3 sacks.FF has to make sure they don't get big heads cause Beallsville and Con Valley are not good.

More weapons than anyone in the league? You mentioned 3 guys on the offensive side of the ball. I'm sure almost every team in the PVC will have about 2-3 play makers, maybe more depending on the team. And like you said, it was against Beallsville and Conotton Valley, not exactly great competition.

Depending on the formation Fort Frye could have have 5 or 6 playmakers on the field. When Shon Smith is at Qb which threw 2 tds last night we can have have Skinner,Spencer Lang,Matt Kilinger SR 4 tds last season lined up backs.Eddie Watson and Chandler Lang on the outsideat WR that's a lot of speed.

I'm not gonna comment to much on this because i'm pretty sure we had the whole speed debate back on the huddle, but anyways, speed is great to have and all, but it's not unbeatable. Smart players that can take good angles and tackle well can somewhat negate speed. Not to mention, with all those playmakers, their is still only one football to go around.

Also, anybody know if/when the Marietta Times will be doing their football previews for the areas teams? I was gone for a few weeks and I don't know if I had missed it or they just haven't done it yet or what.

Don't believe that it has been published yet. Wouldn't be too surpised to see it by the end of next week though.

Maybe you mean Headley because Cole Hogue is only a junior this year.

Noles fans are eager to see Tyler Kinchen at QB, but I think they need to be patient. There will be growing pains, and they'll need a total team effort to get past the first two games. Tough start to the season and those two games will mean a lot to there playoff chances.

I heard Kinchen did pretty good in the scrimmage, but nobody could catch the ball for him. He said there's a lot to work on to get where the Noles want to be. Didn't go myself so that is second hand info.

I am ready to get back to watching PVC football. I lived in Columbus last season, so I was only able to catch a few games. I have moved to Zanesville and have weekends off now, so I will be catching many more games. Anyone hosting the Pickem contest either here or on the huddle this year?
