Post 23 had a great tournament over the weekend. They finished 2nd in the Gene Bennett Classic, losing 5-4 to the Great Lakes Canadian team.

Re: 2018 Football Regions Released

I would think that the odds of Chillicothe, Waverly or ZT hosting a D5 game will be reduced/eliminated by this change. My bet is that they move these games closer to the Cincinnati area. Not sure if it matters, but those schools are all outside of the counties covered by Region 20.

Well Ironton won't have the opportunity to play Burg in the playoffs if they make it, but they could have to travel really far north now.

There are 26 teams participating this year. Games will be played at Branch Rickey, Portsmouth HS, Greenup, Valley, and Wheelersburg. This should be a huge event this year.

Re: Ironton boys basketball coach?

State law is that all supplemental positions are non-renewed each year. Thus are posted. Supplemental contracts are typically for 1 year, so you can't non-renew an expired contract. You see very few jobs posted unless the coach is leaving or the board/AD has decided to change something. Since June ...

Re: D3 softball Chillicothe 2 District

If Fairfield gets past Meadowbrook they will most likely face Wheelersburg. That’s where the rubber will meet the road. A pitcher that throws 75% strikes against a good hitting team. The biggest danger with Burg is that you really don't get a break anywhere in the lineup....they can all hit. All of...

St. Joe has a full schedule for 2018. They should field a team for several years since most of their players will be 9th and 10th graders this coming season. Their feeder teams have good numbers also. Who all did they schedule? They don't have anything on OSSCA and only a couple games on Arbiter.

Re: New Transfer Rule Passed. Goes into effect 5/16/18

I think this rule change will decrease the amount of upper classmen transferring without qualifying for one of the exceptions. It will also make coaches approach these transfers who were willing to sit the first half of the season differently. The new rule won't allow coaches to let these potentiall...

I mean what if team A is stacked with deserving players and say team B is very weak, I'm sure there are better players on team A who won't get anything while not as good players from Team B will? At least in the SOC, the order of finish determines how many spots you get. For example, I think Burg w...

Re: Portsmouth to Restart Soccer

The field inside the track would be possible, but they maybe have to reorganize some of the field event locations. I guess it depends on whether they want turf or a grass surface. Honestly a good grass surface that is used by soccer only would be very nice.

Although playing on a field without football lines is nice, I would guess that when PHS needs their turf replaced in a couple years, they will include soccer lines on the new surface and they will move back to the school.

For as fine ‘a community as Ironton is, it is by far the one of the most toxic places to coach in Ohio - if message board activities are any indication of the like. Good luck to the new coach. He’s going to need to start 5-0, because if he doesn’t and starts 3-2/2-3 then the entire message board co...
