Re: Valley football 2013
I look for Valley to be better on both sides of the ball. Is valley dropping to Division 6 and does anyone have the 2013 schedule? I think pretty much everyone is dropping a division since the OHSAA is adding the 7th division. So they probably will be D 6 but so will almost all of the D 5 schools f...

Re: Ironton and Burg-40+ Years of Excellence--How?
The OHSAA rule is that you can not turn 19 after August 1 of the beginning of your senior year (or 15 before Aug.1 of your 8th grade year). There is a very small window of birthdays which would allow a senior to be 19 during the football season. If there were kids 20 years old during football seaso...

Re: Ironton and Burg-40+ Years of Excellence--How?
Not that this is exclusive to Ironton or Burg, but I think becoming prevalent in a lot of communities, and that is the practice of "red-shirting" kids. 19 year old seniors is pretty commonplace now. I know an 8th grader that will be 15 before end of school this year and seems to be alot o...

Re: D4, REGION 15- IRONTON VS. JOHNSTOWN
Made the trip to Athens for this game last night. If Ironton had been at full strength this game might have been a lot closer. At times early it was a back and forth game, but when Johnstown gets rolling they are hard to stop. Johnstown impressed me with the overall athleticism of their team. Even t...

Re: High school football tickets $9 is it getting out of han
You can go to Ohio University and watch Division I football for less than $9. So yes, it is out of hand.
Also a crock is the schools don't get anything from the $9 tickets if I'm correct. They only get a cut of the presale $7 tickets.

Re: Piketon (8-2) @ Minford (8-2) Rematch Week 11
Tough night for my Falcons. Lost #28 Austin Carter on the first offensive play, missed him on offense and defense. Then turned the ball over I think 3 consecutive times to start the game. Piketon turned those turnovers into TD's like good teams do. Cannot do that against playoff caliber teams. Hats ...

I think you are right about Piketon-Valley,Valley-Minford, Minford-Oakhill,Minford-Wheelersburg.
Then add Symmes Valley-Oak Hill, Symmes Valley-Coal Grove, and Coal Grove-Ironton. Every playoff team in the area is connected.
Talk about the 6 degrees of seperation.

Re: Piketon (8-2) @ Minford (8-2) Rematch Week 11
If the rain moves out tonight the field should be alright by Friday night. It's not turf obviously, but it does drain well for a grass field. Should be another great matchup between these two teams. Most of the games in the past several years have been tight and I would say this one will be too. Min...

Re: Piketon (8-2) @ Minford (8-2) Rematch Week 11
I think the Minford D is really playing at a high level right now. They held a very good Valley team that was averaging just under 30 PPG to a season low 7 points and 236 yards of offense. That is impressive IMO. Also the offense is doing well when they don't turn the ball over. If Minford doesn't t...

Two tough teams tonight. Minford just didn't do the things you need to win. You can't blame the refs when you're making mistakes.
Congrats to Valley, go rep the SOC II.
Falcons can make a run if they execute at a high level. Potential is high for this team, they just have to meet it.

I also here that the odds are 3:1 that there will be a streaker this year :) I will give 5:1 odds that this time they get caught! Only if they drag their bean bag climbing over the wall like last time  There should've been enough DNA evidence hung on the wall last time to make an arrest....

Re: Week 10 - Minford at Valley - SOC II Championship(share)
Another exciting chapter in The Roadsign Rivalry. Both teams will probably have playoffs locked up before the game, maybe even home-field. Valley has been a surprise to most, even a surprise to some of their own fans to an extent. After watching them last year I just didn't see how they could reload...

Week 9 (1-7) Waverly @ (7-1) Minford
Tigers coming off a 1 point loss at home. Minford coming off their first L of the year. Can Minford turn the page and get back to winning this week? Is Waverly just the victim of a tough schedule or is it more? If Minford had won last week I thought this might be a trap game. Highly doubt that now. ...

Re: Week 9 (5-3) Ironton @ (7-1) Oak Hill
Oak Hill has good size, quickness, and are the best tackling team Minford has seen all year. I will not be suprised if this is a close game, especially if Ironton is dinged up. Scheduling up is great, but if you get whipped on the scoreboard and guys are getting injured, is it worth it this late in ...

Re: Week 8: Minford (7-0, 2-0) @ Wheelersburg (6-1, 2-0)
Cannot give good teams 7 turnovers and win. The big difference was that wheelersburg had 5 turnovers I think, but Minford never made them pay for it. I think every TD wheelersburg scored came off a Minford turnover. Thought my Falcons did play some good defense for a lot of the game, just kept getti...

Re: Week 8 : Valley (7-0, 2-0) @ Northwest (0-7, 0-2)
I think it's very important for Valley to rest anyone who may be nursing little injuries and get all the kids healthy. Work on the weak areas and be ready to rock and roll when Burg comes to town. As we say every year, hate to see the kids at Northwest having to endure season after season... the SO...
