Re: Eligibility Question
As you see, travel ball opinions are a lot like political opinions. Everyone has their own opinion and nobody is going to change that no matter what facts they are shown. In all, you have to make what decision is best for your own child and live with those decisions. If you choose to go in debt to p...

Re: Eligibility Question
She actually earned a academic scholarship. I’ve spent a lot of money on tumbling, dance singing swimming and the list goes on and on. If The kids had an interest in it, wanted to try it and I could afford it, I don’t consider it “wasting money “ . I never said” she had to play to make her happy”bu...

Re: Slow am at work , so a word about getting recruited .
Great post, I coach at an NAIA school (not softball, but I coach track). I do pretty well in recruiting, but I don't want a kid unless they are seriously interested in our school itself, not just the track program. And yes!! to the GPA/ACT scores. That will get you way more money than you think it ...

Re: Slow am at work , so a word about getting recruited .
Lastly Parents don't push it on your kid , it will fall apart on you , making her and you unhappy . Enjoy the ride , Attempt to get fired up over stuff that really is more important than softball . Like grades , friends and family ( oh yeah if you want a great package the GPA / ACT score must be go...

Re: Eligibility Question
Yeah Travel ball isn't what it use to be. Little league killed itself with too many rules and poor organization. You're absolutely right though travel ball sure isn't what it use to be. But it doesn't hide that anyway. When i registered my team a couple years ago they asked me if i was a type A or ...

Re: Eligibility Question
You mention travel ball and I have learned a lot by reading the posts and information about it. It is like anything else and they are constantly changing based on the leadership at OHSAA. Travel ball isn’t for the elite anymore and anyone can basically find a team that will take their money to play....

Re: Eligibility Question
OHSAA Rules have change a lot of the last 5 years. Just as in the Coach, coaching travel ball post you had i would recommend catching up on the rules at they are quite fair now. OHSAA allows 10 instructional days. You are correct. A school affiliated Jr High can't practice with varsity. But very fe...

Eligibility Question
My daughter will be a freshman next year and I was wondering when she can start practicing with the HS team. I know HS teams are given 10 instructional days but I thought it was the August 1 calendar date before she can according to OHSAA for spring sports. I would ask her coach but he usually doesn...

Re: 2018 Season Stats
Does suck for that kid. Especially if it's a home grown program. Some of these area all star teams where kids have transferred in from all over the county though because they have been brainwashed to thinking if they don't play for a certain program. I don't feel bad for the kid at all. Right now e...

Re: 2018 Season Stats
My daughter's school has multiple coaches, most are volunteers. None have a daughter on the team. One of the coaches keeps the stats all year long. No stats are released until the team is out of the tourney or the spring banquet, which ever comes last. But, like anything else some things are subjec...

Re: 2018 Season Stats
I completely disagree that a certain team should be limited to a certain amount of players because they had a better team than another. The conference and district awards should be looked at each position to find the 1st and 2nd best player in the conference or district. I can see where a player or ...

Re: 2018 Season Stats
I agree. What are we saying to these kids whose "hard work , dedication , and more importantly on the field performance doesnt get rewarded"? Work your butt off or don't because it doesnt matter anyways? Trust me I understand your frustration but I don’t believe a girl is working her butt...

Re: 2018 Season Stats
Few names of post season stuff got leaked out last night.. On page 1 of this thread I told you some of you are in for a rude awakening . It looks like they drew names out of a hat for some stuff . And I've got zero connection to anyone or any team . But again some girls who clearly , head and shoul...

Re: Scheduling
This season saw the spring to be a little tough getting games early in the season and then went a couple week of good weather and the end of season seems to being a bit raining. All leagues do scheduling different. I have seen a move by many leagues playing the home and away games for the same team...

Alex falling to Fairfield was definitely a surprise I didn’t see coming along with Chesapeake beating Westfall.
