Re: Why play anyone you have a chance of losing to?
In the past, schools have had to live up to their contractural obligations. The only way you could cancel games was by mutual consent. With Covid, things have changed. If a school is scared of playing another school because of covid concerns, should they be playing period. There is no 100% guarantee...

Re: MNF Lewis County (KY) @ Notre Dame updates
Maybe a little too harsh on the officials. They knew because of covid problems, Lewis County had very few practices and I think they were giving them a break. The first half did take a long time - Notre Dame scored quickly and Lewis County put the ball up in the air a lot - combined it made for a lo...

Re: Monday Night Football: Lewis County (KY) AT Notre Dame
Their game was week was cancelled at the last minute Friday. They were fortunate to find a replacement in Lewis County who also had issues last week. Playing two games in a short period isn't the normal but it is similiar to the NFL Thanksgiving games. If you ask the players, they would probably tel...

Re: NEW —- Piketon at Minford 8/20 7:00
One of the great things about our area is how well the AD's and adminstrations of our local schools help each other. Piketon giving up a home game, Wheelersburg allowing Green to use their field until Green's field is ready and Portsmouth letting West use their field Saturday evening are just a few ...

Re: 2021 Wheelersburg Pirates
From the outside of the Burg-Ironton verbal battles, it is always entertaining to read some of the shots taken. But, PLEASE, don't insult our intelligence by trashing a coach who went to back-to-back state title games. Please keep all shots taken entertaining not stupid.

Re: 2021 SOUTH GALLIA REBELS FOOTBALL
South Gallia will be in SOC 1 in most sports starting in 2023. They were the SOC's third choice after Texas and Oklahoma backed out.

Re: D4 Regional
One of the big problems in small high school sports, in case of injury, you have to plug holes by moving players around. You usually don't have the depth to overcome injuries. It is amazing in sports that the ball usually finds the replacements. But you have to give credit to Peebles as it seemed ea...

I believe both but I really haven't seen any announcements. SSU doesn't use conventional media (newspapers and radio) much.

SSU's new coach - Michele Throckmorton - didn't take the job until at least midway during the season (maybe later). Unfortunately for her, most recruiting is done over the summer for this year's senior.

Re: Coaching Vacancies
Kayla was once a referee before she turned to the darkside (jk). But you could always tell where her heart was. She belonged in coaching. She will do an excellent job for the Panthers but she is filling some big shoes. Ben was one of the best on girls side. Good luck to both.

Re: Shot clock approved as a state option in 2022-23
I really don't remember the last game in our area that could use a shot clock. A lot of parents would have a coach fired if he tried to slow the game down and prevent their kids from getting their shots. Most of the low scoring games I have seen are the result of poor shooting. In particular it seem...

Howard Newberry -
The Scioto County sports community mourns the death of Howard Newberry 96. Howard and his family owned Newberry Sporting Goods for a long time in Southern Ohio - at one time, I believe they had 6 stores. Anybody who had to order equipment for their teams or officials who bought items from his before...

Re: State Tournament at UD through 2024
Pol Pot, you are much more in the know about the issues of OHSAA than I am. I have never really thought much about OU hosting the State Tournament. The loss in attendance thru the last 15 years has been alarming. Personally, a lot of people who I know that used to spend the weekend at the State have...

Re: State Tournament at UD through 2024
The only drawback to UD there is very few places within walking distance of there. At Ohio U and OSU, you can park your car and walk to a number of places. At Dayton, you have to jump in the car and go. But, with OSU showing they really don't have much desire for the tournaments, it is probably the ...

Re: Congratulations to Zach Loveday - National Champion
I didn't realize that Jimmy Hull was from Greenfield. That was the first Final Four as the Buckeyes lost to Oregon in the title game. Jimmy Hull and Wilmer Hosket (Bill Hosket's dad) were the first star basketball players at OSU. After graduating OSU, Hosket played a lot of "barnstorming" ...
