Re: Some histories updated

This is great work! I vividly remember the 1961 New Lexington at Coal Grove game. Both were pretty good teams. Hope you can work the MVL teams in as all their games should be on Newspapers.com and the Zanesville papers. The league started in 1938.

Re: 2/26 Circleville (24-0) v Vinton County (19-5)

Circleville is a legitimate number one team. One player better than last year. Their guards will drive and score or dump off to the bigs. VC plays fast with reckless abandon and will need those shots to fall (like the first quarter of the Unioto game) in order to keep it close.

Re: District Semis: #4 Vinton County vs. #5 Unioto

I don’t have a rooting interest but this was a very physical bout!!! VC fans were pretty upset early and I thought we may see one of them given the door. I think the refs tried their best but a lot was going on. They planned and executed a perfect exit art the horn.

Re: Girls Basketball total wins?

Graduated from New Lex and can't remember any girls teams until 70s' The girls played the 5/5 offense and defense in gym. I would imagine there might have been some girls teams in the early 1900s'. Never talked to anyone that ever heard about it. Soccerfan1 how many wins did Dr. Nash caulk up at the...

Ready played a Mid State schedule for a couple years. The were ineligible for the league title. It worked out pretty good for all.

Re: Africentric vs Briggs

Marion Franklin may have suspended the season as their scores are no longer reported on the Cols Dispatch site. Last game was a 96-3 loss to Independence on Dec. 10. The reasons these teams are so bad: Lack of interest in playing for a losing program and the good players gravitate to the winning pro...

Re: Time for a big school league south and east of Columbus

Groveport football has been doing great the past two years. This year they beat the DI state champs in the regular season. Don't count on them leaving the OCC. CW has been good in a lot of sports and can compete in the OCC. They have open enrollment and that helps them a lot. Both areas are growing.

Based on non-league play the MVL was down a bit from previous seasons. Teach - Do you see a stronger league next year?

Re: WK 11: #6 Mechanicsburg (8-2) @ #3 Adena (8-2)

Have seen the 'burg twice this year. The opener against Kenton Ridge 27-3 win and two weeks ago at Fairbanks a 52-0 win. Fairbanks beat West Liberty 26-20 a couple weeks earlier. Seven running clock games for the Indians this year. The league had some poor teams and non-league foe Urbana was very po...

I agree. OHSAA needs to find a way to level the playing field. What good does competitive balance do if you are already Div 1.

Attendance at the State Tournment Day 1

Went yesterday and it looked like the numbers were down again. Most of the reasons I've heard has to do with people being turned off by the super teams (who by the way usually bring very few fans). Best attendance award goes to Waynesville and Chippewa who brought a nice crowds and the game itself w...

Re: 3/14 State Semi #5 Sheridan vs #4 Toledo Rogers

Sheridan gave all they could staying close all the way. Some of us who started following Sheridan on the tournament trail will always wonder what would have happened if Rachel Cooke would have been able to play. Still with the two freshman accounting for 26 points and Mick returning to lead, the fut...
