Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Mocal did not have a good showing. I thought they looked improved over the last couple of years but definitely the MSL showed that they are still a couple steps above. I agree with you on Brown should have won coach of the year for central district. I tend to put a little more stock in what the coac...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Very good point about Shekinah's background. I do recall a few players with those last names. No doubt that is still a part of their history and that many of those families have stuck around. I'm sure the patriarchs of many of those families have largely contributed to the school's background and st...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Gahanna Christian had a few switches over the last 10 years but always hired within the program. The coach last year started as a MS coach, learned at JV, and took over varsity. It’s a really tough situation as most of the staff was let go, including the majority of their coaches. So Paul Hartje win...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Very nicely put! Enjoy the summaries. I'll try to put one of the MOCAL although it's a little more tournament previewy instead of a season wrap-up (EDIT: I took out some of the tournament preview stuff and focused more on the wrap-up). - Strong season by Shekinah Christian (15-7 overall and 11-1 in ...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Couldn't find the Delaware Christian and Centerburg score either, although I would think Centerburg would win since they are likely more imposing team physically. I've been to Granville Christian's gym for a middle school game. It's regulation size. There is pretty much no parking but otherwise I lo...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Definitely surprised BU chose the FC side of the bracket. Maybe they are happy to settle for a district semifinal appearance and figured that half would be easier to get there. GCC going after the MOCAL. I wonder if it has anything to do with Shekinah playing at Jonathan Alder since their court isn’...

Re: State AP Poll - February 5

DIV will be Athens, Athens, East, Carroll Not sure who comes out of the Carroll district. Will be someone like Danville, FCA ... That district took a hit with the big boys going up to DIII The thought up here is that Berne Union and Fisher Catholic are two of the top teams in the Central District t...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Any idea what to make of the MSL Cardinal? Obviously HP and Wellington are on top and FC is the next best team, but what about after that? GCC just beat FCA and BU in the same week, but FCA also lost to Millersport. They've pretty much all beat each other. How would the division be ranked in terms o...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

According to the Dispatch, New Hope is 10-6. Their schedule consists of lots of very hard games (Ready, Hartley, Wellington, Vinton County) and very easy games (Gahanna Christian, Cristo Rey, Patriot Prep). I'll be interested to see how they schedule next year now that their core group of guys will ...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Well I think I was partially right. FC hung with HP way longer than expected, then destroyed BU not long after. Danville beat (but not convincingly) 4-9 Fredricktown after getting blown out by 9-4 Lucas. I’m not saying FC could beat a team like Mansfield St. Peter’s, but they are clearly the best te...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Spot on Chieftain. And just a fantastic breakdown formerfcfan. As I've said before, I catch a lot of MOCAL games so I have a pretty good feel for that conference, but others in the area I'm not so knowledgeable about and really appreciate your insight. Regarding coaches seeding, I had no idea it was...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Saw that FC will be without 11 players on Saturday, as they’re attending the March for Life in DC. Ouch... Good win for them in this one, even if it was against a struggling Fairfield Christian. I believe they were missing 4 varsity players, including at least one starter, but at least they had the...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

This game is actually on YouTube under GCC's broadcasting setup that they use for a few games each year. I try to check after some ones that I'm interested in. Tomlinson got into foul trouble early and FC was hitting everything. FC definitely looked like a top team in the district while GCC did not ...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

First AP polls came out and it’s certainly a bit of a joke at this point, but BU comes in at #6. Any input on whether that’s realistic or not? Tree of Life is #7 and they had a game where they were down 5-0 after the first quarter to Granville Christian, who was missing their only good player, so I’...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Nice for FC to get that and let everyone see lots of action before a tough one with Wellington. Madison Christian is really bad and was missing their starting PG. Madison's best win came against a now 1-8 Delaware Christian team that was missing their best player, a second starter, and playing most ...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Danville has only played 2 games because of a late start due to football team making final 4. Beat Fredericktown 64-56 (a game they led by 20 in the 4th.) Beat Cardington 74-42. Play at centerburg on friday and play home against undefeated northmor on saturday night in rescheduled game.(football) T...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

I had not heard that about the MOCAL actually when Tree was the #1 seed. Like you said I doubt that many coaches are still there from that period and some new schools have been added also, so I doubt that plays a big factor anymore. Actually, I talked with a coach from last year and he said that it ...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

Haha yeah if New Hope lost by 33 to Westfall that would be quite the surprise. I'll agree formerfcfan, that's definitely the upset up the year so far with FCA winning at GCC. Heck, FCA only won by 4 against Granville Christian, one of bottom teams in the district. What in the world is going on in D4...

Re: MSL Cardinal/New Hope/Central District D4

I think this last weekend gave us some clarity on the conference. No idea what transfers everyone has, but HP with a big win over Wellington sends a message not just for the conference title but also for a potential regional birth. I still have no clue on Rosecrans so I don't know if this means GCC ...

Re: What happened to Racine Southern Basketball Program?

Unfortunately players not playing is a problem that most schools are having, not just Southern. Many small-to-mid size schools can't field a freshman team anymore because fewer kids play multiple sports. Perhaps the cause of these kids not playing is specific to Southern and their culture, but you'd...
