Re: Portsmouth Clay Gilliland 1000 pt club
Congrats young man.Go2thebasket wrote:Congrats to him! Got to watch him a couple times this year. Very unselfish player, didn't force shots and was willing to do the dirty work of rebounding and defending the rim. Glad to see players like that reach a milestone like this. Good luck rest of the year and in tourney.

Re: Top Tournament Programs All Time In SE District
Where do you find the sectional, district, regional for each school? For many years SHL schools went thru Hillsboro, Chillicothe and some thru Dayton.

Re: D4 Boys Northwest Sectional Teams and Outlook
Agreed. Not right but it is what it is.fanman wrote:The SOC coaches totally control this Sectional and I can guarantee you that Peebles will play Fairfield. There is no way they will allow two SHL schools to get out regardless of the records. They will either be the 3/6 or the 4/5 seeds.

Re: Little League Approach - Old School vs. New School
When our family moved back home to Peebles in 1969 , I remember junior high as being the time you started playing basketball. The seventh and 8th grades where when we started playing organized BB at Jefferson and Longfellow elementary schools in Dayton ,Ohio. In the ninth grade I started in Peebles....

Re: State tourney
Portsmouth's 1988 27-1 D2 state champions were all Portsmouth kids, as were the 1978 Class AA 19-7 state champions, and the 1961 Class AA (big school) 22-3 state champions. Most likely the 1931 Class AA state champions were all Portsmouth kids too. It's just so hard to get there. Like I said props ...

Re: State tourney
The comments above are the reasons I posted this. I want to give props to any school that can make it far enough thru the one a day done with kids who played together their entire school careers. It's amazing that some schools can even make it to the regional finals where they eventually have to pla...

Re: State tourney
What exactly are you considering "home grown"? Do their parents have to be alumni? Do they need to be born there? Attended kindergarten there? Where is the cutoff to not be considered a "home grown"? Kids that started together a young age in organized basketball in the school pr...

Re: State tourney
It's almost impossible for a small school to make it to state with kids who lived their lives in that town. Hoosiers is a pipe dream it seems.

Re: D4 Boys Northwest Sectional Teams and Outlook
I'd say just accept wherever you are seeded, lace up those high tops, and get ready for the one and done. You have to beat the team in front of you anyway.Health, coaching and a little luck is what gets ya to the sweet sixteen. It takes more luck ,coaching and health to go on from there.
