Re: What makes some schools good every year and some not so good every year

Culture. Culture. Culture.

And culture is created by the Head Coach and HAS to be fully supported by staff, school administration, parents, and the community.

Re: Where does Logan go from here?

And as I have mentioned before, his kids are in the Lancaster school district for a reason. I will say this: Yes, Burke's kids are at Lancaster (where I believe his wife is also a principal somewhere). BUT.... When Burke was hired, he pledged to move to Logan - BUT the agreement also included a pro...

Re: Where does Logan go from here?

Burkes dream job is the Lancaster position. And as I have mentioned before, his kids are in the Lancaster school district for a reason. As soon as Carpenter retires ole Billys packing his office in hopes of getting the job. But in saying that.... Would Lancaster want him. Other then his stint as a ...

Re: Where does Logan go from here?

John Smith, if he applied - if the job opened up - think he would get at least an interview? The school reached out to John when they hired Burke. John got out of coaching because he wanted to be able to spend time watching and coaching (lower levels) his kids as they go through middle/high school....

Re: 2019 Gallia Academy Blue Devils Outlook

I was told a while back that Coach Penrod was trying to use the pitchfork on the helmet, not sure what stopped it from happening, but it was held up somewhere along the line. Position wise, i think the biggest open spot will be losing their QB. Not that the other seniors won't be missed, but the QB...

Re: Region 15 #7 Licking Valley @ #2 Gallia Academy

Those were great games! Had a recent conversation about a Logan game in Logan when Dustin Winters got hurt by a "bad" hit. The Blue Devil fans went berserk & were throwing trash on the field. Logan brought the cops & the dogs on the field. Dustin was carried off on a stretcher & raised his arms. Th...

Hey toldya, you remind me of my favorite poster from logan, related somehow to logan locos.... lol..... with all the speed that gallia has I look for a very close game.. coach Penrod is a great fit for gallia, any idea where he is from? Logan and gallia need to resume there rivalry on the gridiron....

Re: Waverly 34 Logan 20

Nah...That's not the problem...Cupcake games won't help...The program needs refurbished in many areas...Top to bottom... I'm with you. From what I've seen Its no about in-game management then Talent and confidants. New Coach needs to pick his or hers own staff and bring in new ones if possible. The...

Re: Where does Logan go from here?

Just thought I’d chime in for one comment made previously about firing the whole staff. So let’s say they fire everyone. I’d say 98% of the staff is in fact a teacher. So they bring in a new coach and he will obviously need a staff. So what are the expectations then? Do they fire teachers so they c...

Re: Waverly 34 Logan 20

Logan does need a more realistic schedule. Doesn't have to be smaller schools. But play St. Charles instead of Watterson/DeSales. Play Marietta, Warren, or Cambridge instead of Zanesville (although overall I like ZHS on the sched). Play Watkins instead of Tri-Valley or Sheridan. But the problem is -...

Re: Where does Logan go from here?

Washington County is like Scioto County. Schools there basically lost half their enrollment. Marietta used to be a huge school Exactly. Marietta was the biggest school in the SEOAL until the 1996-97 school year according to the Ohio Department of Education numbers. Which is exactly what I said.

Re: Where does Logan go from here?

Logan wasn't even the largest school in the SEOAL until the late-90s/early 2000s. Logan had 1800 students in 1989. Athens had 900. Even the next biggest school was 1200 Marietta. You aren’t even close https://i.imgur.com/LMgs3xU.gif?noredirect LOL. Not sure where you get your numbers. To be fair - ...

Re: Region 11 #5 Hillsboro @ #4 Eastmoor Academy

First couple of possessions will be key in this one IMO. If Eastmoor can force early punts and/or get some big scoring plays early, it tilts the balance of the game in their favor. Conversely - if Hillsboro can retain possession and control the clock and force Eastmoor into some 3 and outs, they con...

Re: Where does Logan go from here?

Logan needs a league so they can play more teams they can compete against. I think they are overdue for a coaching change as well. This is horse crap. Logan had a long and storied run in a league where they were a big fish in a small pond. That league folded and now they have been forced to play be...

Re: Region 15 #7 Licking Valley @ #2 Gallia Academy

Probably the worst draw for Gallipolis.

Not sure if I'd pick John Glenn or Licking Valley as the best "road" team in week one.

But the Blue Devils are battle tested. Licking Valley has the tradition and an excellent head coach. Will be a heck of a contest.

Athens does not need Logan to win.

I don't see Terre North winning. My guess is DeSales 18.65

Athens just needs Parlersburg South and or Logan to win.
Go Chiefs!

Pretty confident that Licking Valley loses to Licking Heights and that Monroe Central beats West M. If that helps some of those predicting.
Really? I can’t get a read on the Licking game but trust your insight.

I agree on West M.

Re: WK10: Logan (1-8) @ Waverly (8-1)

I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going to unexpectedly agree with Paladin. I agree with him that Logan would be an average D4 team and a decent D5 team. The problem for them is they're D2. And while he may be correct when he says Waverly will learn how good they are in their own division dur...

Yea all that hard work and it would be disappointing for the players to have to share the title. definitely need the win (and should definitely get it). Re: WK10: Logan (1-8) @ Waverly (8-1)

I would say Waverly is probably 3 or 4 TDs better than Meigs if that says anything. Best comp is Athens IMO. Think Waverly is 6-10 points better than Athens. Waverly beat Fairland pretty handily and Fairland beat Athens That's why I said Waverly was better than Athens. I have actually watched the F...

Just win baby.
The best part for GA is they don't even have to win this week. They'll host regardless.

But I agree with Coach P - time to be selfish. No sharing the OVC title.

Actually - WB reminds of what Brian Spicer does on offense. I assume he did the same at Hillsboro trying to throw it all the time.

Re: Region 11 Playoff Watch

Very well stated. I agree. Western Brown is honestly a decent team. Their record does not reflect that because of the inconsistency of their offense....they throw the ball literally every down. Spread it out and throw it every play. Im not sure ive ever seen a HS spread team that doesnt run Jet swe...
