Re: 1/25 Fairland @ Coal Grove

Fairland made first 12 shots they took and were 13 out of 14 not counting the end of the half heave.
Ouch.

Re: 2018/19 Portsmouth Trojans

The Coal Grove Hornets continued their dominance of Portsmouth with a lopsided 64-33 win. This was the Trojans poorest effort of the season overall, as the offense, other than Matthew Fraulini, was non-existent. The defense in the 2nd half allowed too many open layups by CG. Coal Grove has now won ...

Re: 2018/19 Coal Grove Hornets

Great Win for the Hornets. Good defensive effort and rebounding. Didn't shoot really well but did all the little things. Great Job by the guards handling the Ironton pressure. Nate Harmon played big on the glass. Would love to see a few JV players step up and provide some minutes. Our trap press cau...

Re: 01/04 Gallia Academy @ Coal Grove

Good game and atmosphere at the Grove last night. Had some chances early thanks to some hot shooting and missed Gallia free throws. McClelland was a killer hitting those 3's. Blouir did a nice job on defense and running the point. Foul trouble for CG hurt. Went around 3:30 at the end of the 2nd quar...

Re: New Coal Grove Coach???

Blaine Fuller would be an awesome young coach that could turn Coal Grove football back into a dynasty!! DRAGON70 what qualifies Fuller to be an awesome football coach? Although he seems like a fine young man from what I have seen but I am only knowledgeable of his time as a Jr. Hugh basketball coac...

Re: Coal Grove 57 Oak Hill 48 a final ...

Great summation PFLOYD and great added feedback Josh Wheeler. I agree aside from the tenacious defensive effort from McKenzie in the 1st qtr comeback (down 16-2) that Nate Harmon was key to that run as he kept Hammond from dominating the paint as he did early and got a few fouls on him that mattered...

Re: Coal grove coach Evan took boyd county head coaching job

This is not college football where the team gets together all the time. If he was hired on Tuesday school was out. So no time to get the team together during school. Some people are always looking to blame others than to really look into what is needed to change to improve the football program. The...

Thanks for filling in the gaps for me Trojan Dave.
Obviously I am Biased but Aaron Music would be on the top 10 SE district team and first team All OVC if I was picking.

Re: Top 10 Players in the SE District

Looks like the OVC has been excluded from the list. This conference is typically a defensive conference but just because they don't average 18+ a game don't mean they don't have several special players. Here I go trying to remember from last year. Coal Grove: Aaron Music could start for any team in ...

Re: Can everyone take a look at the Portsmouth Trojans (7-3) with first year head coach Kalb

Parker won’t go anywhere. All his friends are at Portsmouth. And as good as Parker is would he fit burgs offense? That rumor is false. He would fit great in burgs offense Wouldn’t get 30 touches a game and wouldn’t have the stats but would win more games and go deeper in playoffs Parker is getting ...

Re: Fairland 35 Coal Grove 13

Can't start slow emotionally and physically and expect to win. Can't let offense results dictate your effort on defense. Saw some good things from some underclassmen tonight. Use this season of almosts to motivate you for next year. Shout out to Aaron Music. Seems to always run his routes hard and p...

Re: Coal Grove @ Fairland

I say this game and the next are totally up to CG's senior class. If the team and seniors give the same effort the next two weeks as they did against Ironton we have a good chance to end 6-4 against all larger division schools but one and still a small chance for the playoffs. I say the effort will ...

Re: WK #9 GALLIPOLIS (7-1) @ IRONTON (6-2)

After playing against both back to back I say Ironton will have to play error free football to win.
Gallipolis defense is the best we faced imo and their O line is big.
If Gallia keeps emotion in check they will pull away in the 2nd half.
Gallipolis 28 Ironton 7 (Even though it is at Ironton)

Re: WEEK 8 -- 4-3 COAL GROVE @ 5-2 IRONTON -- BORDER WAR SPECIAL

Tough loss for the Hornets tonight. Played hard all 4 quarters. Even though the score was not in our favor we were just as good as a good Ironton team who had a lot of returning players. I like how Ironton is trying to bring back attitude and pride with all your social media posts but you need to go...

Re: WEEK 8 -- 4-3 COAL GROVE @ 5-2 IRONTON -- BORDER WAR SPECIAL

Gameday for the Grove!! Coal Grove may be 4-3 but I still fully believe we can compete with anyone on our schedule. Couple bad breaks, few bad plays and lightning delays have cost us. This is still a very talented team. We have a great coaching staff and I think the hornets will come to play tonigh...

Re: WEEK 8 -- 4-3 COAL GROVE @ 5-2 IRONTON -- BORDER WAR SPECIAL

Didn't they lose all 5 down lineman and both linebackers from last years defense? We lost 2 linebackers and 3 lineman. Flyer, we already faced him a few weeks ago. He put 261 yards and 3 touchdowns on us. And both starting corners and both defensive ends . So that’s 9 defensive starters we loast fr...

Re: WEEK 8 -- 4-3 COAL GROVE @ 5-2 IRONTON -- BORDER WAR SPECIAL

Holy crap. It's 2018 and there are still people that believe refs cheat for Ironton at home. That is just as ridiculous now as it was 40 years ago. Give it up already. How easy you forget. 2 years ago CG versus Ironton and the mysterious scrum where Ironton came out with the ball well after the whi...

Re: WEEK 8 -- 4-3 COAL GROVE @ 5-2 IRONTON -- BORDER WAR SPECIAL

Then why are you? So the last 3 years it was staff only in why CG was on even level with Ironton? Had nothing to do with CG being as talented? The last two losses for CG could have been coaching also. Looking at Pigskin preview Rock Hill, Ironton and Gallipolis had the most returning starters to st...

I am also hoping for a good loud crowd tonight.
I have a good feeling that the upset is possible. I expect a good offensive and defensive performance.
