Re: Ironton @ coal grove 2/14

I believe the last winning season Ironton had was year before last. Ironton has been to the district, regional and state way more times than CG..if in not mistaken CG hasn't done anything since maybe 1998. So don't go there about records. CG has one good year and in both sports and you go crazy. Do i...

Re: Ironton @ coal grove 2/14

Coaching is not the problem with basketball. He just doesn't have very good players. Coaching says a lot of he best CG once and only lost by 4 with way less talent

Not slighting Norms accomplishments at all. Just saying that basketball in this part of the state is no where near that of northern ohio. It would have been tough to produce that kind of wins in a basketball area of ohio othervyhan southern ohio

Re: Feb 3rd oak hill @ coal grove

There is no doubt Norm is good coach..Hes not special. He had many chances to make it to the state when at Chest but could never get by Barrick at the Burg..when Norm was loaded the year he played Zornes and Ironton. Ironton completely destroyed them.He was at Wilmington and had very little success....

Re: Feb 3rd oak hill @ coal grove

There are good officials and bad officials. Everyone has had both at different times..Dont think for a minute that Norm hasn't had calls that went in his favor at home Manny many times has had other coaches down through the years..get over it. The kids play the game the kids win it or lose it. I kno...

I understand that things aren't what they used to be in all sports at Ironton. I know there are less jobs and people have moved away due to that..my question is what is truthfully the problem with ironton at this point.

Re: Ironton BOE Meeting 12/19

Any coach that would listen to a parent about what to do with his or her team or how to run it had better be prepared for total failure. Any school board or administration that gives in to pressure from parents or politics had better get comfortable with losing...A school system with that kind of ba...

Re: Ironton BOE Meeting 12/19

Ive coached many many years and the number 1 priority in developing a successful program in any sport is DISCIPLINE. Without it you will never have a winning program. I agree that a coach can not demand respect from his players. That has to be earned by being dedicated, enthusiastic and show a true ...

Re: Waverly @ Oak hill

Norm is definitely a very good coach. He has a nice system and he keeps it simple as to what he does, but he is really really good at what he has his team doing. The only thing is ,is most of his wins came in the OVC which is not a power house in basketball by any means. The one poster was right. Su...

Pringle played on the 94-95 state tournament team. He was a very good player. He didn't return for his senior year.was ineligible or got in trouble or something. Tigers could have made another run with him playing.

Triplett is absolutely the one for the job. Now whether he would want to come back after the way he was treated is a horse of a different color. He's been successful, knows the game, has a great weight program and is a motivator and a disciplinarian. Make the offer Ironton or quit crying around abou...

Re: Chasing Ghosts: The Haunting of Ironton football

The best thing that Ironton can do is quit living on what Ironton used to be and focus on building the future. Be proud of what was accomplished during the time that Coach Lutz was there. Its over now.Move on. Give and OUTSIDER an opportunity to do the same as Lutz did.
