Re: An Early Look at the SEOAL: The 2008 Chillicothe Cavaliers

things are going good. Coach D has started personal meetings with the players and their parents. I think it's pretty cool and comendable that he spends 3 hours a night 4:30 to 7:30 3 days a week meeting w/ EVERY kids parents on the team. In fact, they have been told they won't play unless he meets w...

Nice job. Wow! looks like Ashland must have either stayed exclusively in Ohio or reloaded their whole roster.lol I know there are a bunch of Ohio kids that have signed with various WVIAC schools too. I will try to egt a list.I can definitely get West Liberty's.There's also a ot of kids going to D3 s...

Re: Whats your "bread and butter" play?

Last year, I would say the power sweep was our go to play. With Frye's ability to shake guys in the open field and smaller interior linemen, we made a lot of hay on the power sweep. I'll second that LOCOS. The play that hurt us vs you guys, especially on the goal line was the power, that I like. Our...

Whats your "bread and butter" play?

I know it depends on the team you have and what their strengths are, but every coach has that one play they feel comfortable coaching. Right? As I mentioned in another thread, my favorite play by far is the good-old fashioned Power or Power G. If you can get your OT or TE to fly down and seal off th...

Re: Old fashion football

I'm not a big passing guy either, however, I do like the 3-step game and play action. If I had my druthers, and could run my "perfect" offense, Id have to say it would be the offset I. I like having a lead blocker, b/c my favorite play w/o a doubt is the Power. I also like being able to mo...

I'm proud to say that he was loyal to you, though. He never said a negative thing about you to me. Thats good to hear. Thats why I've kept in touch with him, same with Jimmy. He's doing a tremendous job up here and the kids and staff love him. He's really turned out to be a very good coach.Last year...

Re: KCU Committs (local players)

When schools like this start up a new program it's always appealing to the local talent b/c there's no "established" starters and in a young kids eyes, they have a very good chance of playing right away. I remember when I was a JR in HS Urbana started a FB program. It was the same way.Boat...

Re: An Early Look at the SEOAL: The 2008 Chillicothe Cavaliers

I think one thing you'll see this year(i sure do hope so anyway) is SR leadership. No knock on the Sr's last year, but we really never had anyone step up and be a leader. The year before, part of our success was b/c of that very thing.LEADERSHIP. We had several, like Givens, Beeler, Ferguson,Steele e...

Re: KCU Committs (local players)

I wouldn't bet on Caudill going there for sure Blue. He's got a few other things going too. He's one that I've stayed in contact with and we're trying to get him somewhere. He might end up there, but some other options are starting to surface, albeit late, but for D-3 and even some D-2 programs, the...

Blue--Humpty has verballed to Akron and Ray is still up in the air, perhaps waiting on his recent test scores, I hear.He has listed Wright State as his number one choice, though. In an article I read in the Dayton newspaper, they said they were just waiting on his recent scores. I'm sure they both h...

I know what it's like to be a private person. I'm pretty much a loner when I'm not around my family or friends back home. Just me and the Dog. Although I have found a pretty good gal finally. As we talked about in the past, my reclusiveness, and enjoying living in a one way holler, has been mistaken...

Drifter-I'm definitely not underestimating the Generals.I grew up 15 minutes from there and have all the respect in the world for Paul Culver. He's a West Liberty Alum, ya know. When I coached at WL, Sheridan was always one of the first schools I visited. One of my worst recruting memories was losing...

Re: Old fashion football

In my opinion to be successful at a small school you have to be able to adjust to the talent of your team. You can't have a set offense or defense that you are going to run no matter what talent you have. That statement is as true as it gets. Now, mind you, I may not have run the right things in so...

You are correct, as usual Locos. His name is Casey Oates. He is a very nice running back, plus one of the older kids in his class. He can scoot.
