Re: Ohio Rules Vs WVA Rules

West Virginia has its own transfer rules, including 365 days of being ineligible if the kid does not move into the district. Proof of residence is required. If they meet that criteria, they are eligible. Their situation in Ohio is of no concern to WV, so long as the kid's legal guardian lives within...

Re: Ohio Rules Vs WVA Rules

Your eligibility is based on the school you play for, not the location of the game. For instance, WV requires a 2.0 to play. Let's say Maryland requires you to literally pass a class to be eligible. Keyser, WV plays Fort Hill, MD. It doesn't matter where they play, if they are eligible by their stat...

Re: Wayne, W.Va. in need of game

I started this thread. Check in every so often. I'm a fan of OVC football as a whole and try to keep up with those schools. Wayne's success is not inflated. It's against similar schools in its state. That's really all there is to it. No need for hypothetical comparisons. Opinions are something every...

Re: Wayne, W.Va. in need of game

In 2002, Wayne best Chesapeake, 41-0. Chesapeake played for the regional championship that year. Anomalies happen. The 2011 Wayne-Peake game was in 98 degree temps. Both teams were struggling with cramps, heat, and a combined 9 fumbles. Chesapeake also matched up very well with Wayne that year. Wayn...

Re: OVC 2014 Schedules

Won't be Wayne in 2014. Wayne's schedule is full. Could be 2015, though. I would love for Wayne and Fairland to start playing again. I lived next to the football stadium growing up, and remember when I was younger we played Wayne (and Buffalo before the consolidation.) There would always be a ton o...

I have heard this as well. I've also heard Wayne. I guess we'll see in the next couple of months.

No, Wayne filled its 2014 schedule by getting the Morgantown game on October 3. The game originally scheduled for October 3 (Mingo Central) was moved to Sept. 26, and the game originally on the 26th was moved to Sept. 5 (at Sissonville).

Re: Wayne, W.Va. in need of game

Just to update, Wayne filled it schedule. Morgantown, W.Va. will play at Wayne October 3. It's a one year deal so I don't know if Wayne already has a 2015 deal with someone else in the works.

Wayne, W.Va. in need of game

Can play either September 5 or September 19.

Anyone have open dates then? Can't get a game in any corner of W.Va. at the moment.

Re: Whom Should Chesapeake Drop?

wayne should join the ovc, but that won't happen because they was in it once then high tailed it back to wv to beat up on those rinky dink teams 56-0 every week.if wayne played schools in ohio their size, like ironton, ports., valley, they wouldn't be as successful. i seen ironton beat a randy moss ...

Re: Whom Should Chesapeake Drop?

2011 was the best Chesapeake team I saw play on the field since 2000. But I only saw them once, and their personnel matched up very well against Wayne that night. Wayne at the end of the season was a different animal, and while I am fully confident Chesapeake improved throughout the season too, I do...

Re: Whom Should Chesapeake Drop?

Ironton and Ashland didn't play in 2006.

What I meant to say was longest consecutively played interstate matchup in the Tri-State. Wayne and Chesapeake have played each year since 87 or 88. They played a lot before then as well. My fault for lack of clarity.

Re: Whom Should Chesapeake Drop?

And let me add, I'm disappointed to see this series end. Chesapeake-Wayne was the longest running interstate series in the Tri-State, having played the last 25 years. It was BY FAR Wayne's shortest trip. Every Wayne road trip is now over an hour. Mingo Central was a 2 hour trip. Herbert Hoover will ...

Re: Whom Should Chesapeake Drop?

Anyone at that 2011 Chesapeake-Wayne game knows that wasn't an "average" Chesapeake team. Plus it was 96 degrees at kickoff. Both teams struggled with the heat and had a combined 9 turnovers. It was as sloppy of a game as I've seen. Remember, they basically outplayed St. Clairsville in the...

Re: Chesapeake facility thoughts

That's a pretty bad attitude scarlet-gray. You limit seating too much and you'll start losing fans coming to games. Football is the one sport that brings people to your school. If people can't sit there, they will quit going. When visiting fans take up 40% of the home side, that becomes a hassle for...

Chesapeake facility thoughts

First, it is beautiful. There should be much pride taken in that facility. Did want to point a few things out, though. There are fewer visiting bleachers now. Looks as though they are about one row shorter and 10-20 yards shorter. Also, since the walkway is in front of the seats now, there are fewer...

Question for officials on board

Why would a referee throw the flag for illegal formation? Under what circumstance is that the white hat's call?

Just curious. Saw it 3-4 times Friday night and had never saw it called by the referee before.

Re: Chesapeake's team, new field

Now that I can see it from that angle, looks like there are fewer visiting bleachers than before...by about 30-40 yards. Yikes...could be an issue. Of course, LOTS of hillside space available with great views, so that helps. The pressbox, as the pictures show, appears to have about 3x the amount of ...
