Re: Meigs American Legion post 128 Tryouts
Today and yesterday in Athens was my first opportunity to see Post 128 play this year. I have been swamped and have not really even had the chance to stay in touch through the forum here. I've been checking the newspaper but have not seen anything reported about the team there. I want to say that I ...

Not the weekend you requested, but Athens has a very good tournament the following weekend. Check here: http://www.athenssandlot.com/page26.html.

Re: Rannow Field
It certainly is refreshing to see such great support and enthusiasm for Athens baseball. There is a ripple effect that occurs, as the team and their enthusiasm, passion for the game, and a "bulldog-like" drive for success has become quite evident. The community at large is very excited abo...

You're doing a great job coach. You are an ambassador for Athens athletes and all athletics. Keep it up.

Re: Meigs American Legion Post 128
The District and the State typically recognizes the legion team by where it is from. If the team's legion post is mentioned it is usually mentioned after the geographical location (e.g. Lancaster Post 11, Athens Post 21, etc.). Athens has always had many players from Federal Hocking, Alexander, Trim...

Re: Waterford
So, What your saying is that the players of Waterford should have given up playing football this year so they could win the regional in basketball? As a baseball coach, I need the kids to just play baseball, and the football coach needs them to just play football, and track needs them to just run t...

Re: What about this weather?
Athens is one of those teams that is abiding. We've had only pitchers and catchers since last Monday, with some open gym (meaning, no attendance and no instruction) hitting which has been totally separate times from the pitchers/catchers practice. The hitting cage has not been open during pitchers a...

Re: 2/29 Greenfield McClain Vs. Vinton County
After watching both teams my opinion is that Vinton County is a bit stronger. I was a little surprised that the GM/Gallia game was a close as it was. What I saw in that game is that you can hang with GM if you are more physical than they are. Gallia clearly was. In the same respect, Vinton County wi...

Re: 2/25 Western vs. Reedsville Eastern
The call was legitimate. I don't think that's what the earlier poster meant by a "call" turned things around. My guess is the point is that the "play" caused a major swing in the momentum and could have been a definite turning point in the game. In fact, I was sitting with my 9-y...

The scrimmage was physical on both ends. Coach McNeil at Athens demonstrated that his style of basketball is fast, as they pressed much of the time. Not much offense on either ends, but that is to be expected having only a few practices to put an offense together. Mostly a lot of motion and ball scr...
