Does Coal Grove not have a kicker?
[/quote]

I was wondering why they chose to forego kicking the PAT down the stretch myself. I’m sure the coach had a good reason.

Re: PHS at Coal Grove picks. Fireworks.

Nice job by Portsmouth coaches and kids staying focused and not panicking in this one as they go on to claim a big OVC road win. This one came down to Portsmouth’s PAT team converting in the clutch and stopping the Hornets after their final two PAT attempts as they elected to go for two points rathe...

Ironton -62
Peake - 0

The game itself won’t be as close as the above score might seem to indicate.

How important is scheduling

I hear lots of banter about scheduling up. How beneficial is this? What schools in SE Ohio would benefit most by scheduling up?

Coal Grove vs Ironton - Traveling Trophy

What is your take on a traveling trophy between the Hornets & Fighting Tigers. Players and fans in these districts are passionate about the game of football and a traveling trophy could add some spice to this OVC matchup. With these schools less than three miles apart it just makes sense. Any su...

Re: Ironton @ Coal Grove

Two programs that are separated by a few miles geographically but miles apart in culture, expectations, and results.

This game should be a rivalry but it takes two to dance.

Re: Wheelersburg “transfers” over the years in football!!

Yabbadabba The Burg’s superintendent is on the SE District athletic board and has been for many years. During this time he has served stints on the OHSAA board of directors. If anyone in SE Ohio has connections to make a case that something illegal is going on in ironton it’s him. Maybe you should m...

Re: Vikings vs. Buckeyes, RD2 Symmes Valley @ NY

SV really has no business being in Division VI and the injury bug has not been kind to the Vikings this season. They are easily Division VII in most years but competitive balance caught up with them and put them into a larger classification for the first time. Coach Webb will have his team prepared.

To play or not to play? That is the question. Tough situation for Fairland’s Board of Education. Many eyes around the area are watching and waiting to see what decision is made.

Re: 2020 Ironton 55 - 7 Gallia Academy

If Gallia has 4 D1 players and got massacred like that again by Ironton then at what point do you begin questioning why does this keep happening? Penrod and company is now on the clock.

Penrod and his Blue Imps get the pimp hand slap across the mouth from Pendleton’s Black and Orange bullies. You won’t beat this Tiger team playing soft.

Re: Playoffs and the OVC

Norm quit playing Wheelersburg in the regular season. Tom Barrick owned NJP. Ashland and Russell were right across the river. Don’t recall them on the Panthers schedule. Ryan Davis alway plays stiff competition. His scheduling philosophy and Norm’s are eons apart.

Re: Playoffs and the OVC

AD’s and coaches should examine the Chesapeake basketball scheduling philosophy during the Norm Persin era. It is the perfect example of what happens when a good program fails to challenge itself out of conference. Great regular season records but folded year after year in the district or regional t...

Not in favor of a merger. Leave the leagues alone. Lots of traditional rivalries. Some members need to get better in football in the OVC but there is plenty of solid competition. The other sports are very competitive and travel is good.

Re: Coal Grove 12 - 49 Ironton

Great painted corn dogs last night in the concession stand at Coal Grove. CG concession stand is always very good. Heard many Tiger fans at the game sharing concerns about the lack of safety in the visitors bleachers. No aisles exist to enter and exit these bleachers and no hand rails. This needs fi...

REDMAN - 👀. For years there has been a bunch of guys with 4 wheelers on top of the hill behind the RH press box watching games. I’m betting those coolers strapped on the rack aren’t carrying Mr. Pibb and Coke Zero. 🍺🍺🍺
