Re: Portsmouth Moving to the SOC
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it's the AD's that vote. Unless it's changed. When the whole South Galia thing was going on, it was the Superintendants/Administrators, not the AD's or the Coaches. I know that for a FACT.Can someone clarify this? I know for sure it's not the coaches. When the SOC-...

Re: Any area teams use the wide tackle six defense?
^^^^Yeah, thanks to the Rich Rodriguez's and the Urban Meyers' of the world.lol Gotta love that spread and run philosophy, but as we saw this year w/ RR at Michigan, you've gotta have the kids to do it. He sure did miss Pat White. I coached against Rich when he was just starting to develop his offen...

Re: Any area teams use the wide tackle six defense?
you don't see too many people running this, around here anyhow. A coach from the Fayetteville NC area, that I coached with, named Nathan Pittman has been the DC at several different Mid South Teams and has 6 State Championship Rings. He's ran this defense since his younger days(early 70's), stealing i...

I got to meet him at an Ironton game and he was signing programs for people. Seemed very nice and down to earth. Sorry to hear the news.

Re: What SE Ohio county has the best football teams???
I know it's considered "Central Ohio" for the most part, but SOME of Fairfield County is as south as SOME of Perry. In Fairfield you have good programs such as Lancaster, Amanda, Pickerington Central, Liberty Union, Fairfield Union, Fisher Catholic, Berne Union. They weren't all good this ...

Re: PIKETON REDSTREAKS
I agree 100% with D Owens. Tyler Gullion is a good coach and you won't find someone who cares as much about the Piketon FB Program. You better watch what you wish for. You've got a hometown boy coaching your team with his Dad helping who is a tremendous teacher of the game. He alo has a solid staff ...

You misunderstood. I was saying keep Tyler, Mo, Chester, Rockwell, Mcroberts - volunteers must go So Gifford, Fyffe and Pfiefer was the problem? Yea I think you may be right! I know Pfiefer quite well and I doubt he has anything to do with the 4 losses they had.lol Great guy from a great family.How...

Re: Will Logan no longer be the Chieftains?
We can at least take a small step like changing a team name. We should try to clean up the stains of the past. . Thats complete nonsense. IMO, the very name LOGAN is paying homage to a Mingo Leader named Logan(unless I'm mistaken), who's family was raped and murdered on Yellow Creek in the late 170...

Re: D-I Talent in Southern Ohio...
Chris Givens of Chillicothe is doing very well as a WR at Miami. They had a down year, but he did good. It's not D-1 , but Clay Beeler(also from CHS)is tearing it up at NCAA DII West Liberty State. He was named to the All Region 1st team, as an ILB,which is absolutely incredible for a So. There are ...

Re: Unioto football
He's doing the best he can with what he's got. He knows his weaknesses and has tried to surround himself with better assistants. The BOE declined his request by not approving Valentine and Justice. Together, they have over 50 years of experince. Both have coached at the DI or D1AA levels as well as ...

Re: Derek Roback Offers
I've never seen the likes of some of these silly comments. I don't care if he goes 0-10 next year and gets sacked 50 times. College coaches are not buffoons like some people on here. They actually COACH football for a LIVING. NOTHING ELSE. Thats all they do, every day of their life---coach, recruit,...

Re: HOW ABOUT THOSE LIBERTY UNION LIONS!!??!!
The Lions held the Bishop Ready Knights to one field goal to win 13-3. What a show by the special teams. A blocked punt to make the score 7-0. Then, Tenant, the #2 field goal kicker in the central district kicked a 50 yarder and a 47 yarder. The number 1 kicker(Ready's kicker) was 1 for 2 and missed...

Re: Region 19 Final - Liberty Union v. Bishop Ready
Liberty Union will need to play more disciplined on defense to stop both the pass and the run or they will get suprised. I agree, and I have full confidence in Dan Johnson, Ron Owens and the rest of the Lions Coaching staff. Those two have coached at LU for 23 years together, and have played the li...

Re: Southeastern Ohio Football, CHANGE,CHANGE,CHANGE
I'll dog the 4-4 and the 5-2 every time it's mentioned. I'm not a big fan of it at all. Like you, I believe that you've got to pass - most of the time, you aren't going to be able to live between the tackles the whole game. If you've read enough of my posts on here, you know exactly how I feel abou...

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH SOUTHERN OHIO FOOTBALL!!!!!!!! it just needs to learn how to defend the spread. once that happens OOOOOEEEEEEEE look out!!!!! I thought the fans for Liberty Union, were great .Even with their team down 7-0 and they looked as if they couldnt move the ball their fans were really into it. I will thank you for myself and the rest of my fellow Baltimorians. It's been few and far between for Lu ging to the playoffs. Although th...
