Re: WK 4 Wellston (2-1) @ Oak Hill (2-1)
Wellston has the better "athlete" at QB. Oak Hill has a better passing QB and I think they are a little better on the OL. Turnovers and/or a penalty will be the difference. I think Oak Hill wins by 2 TD's.

Agree Crab's brother about Wheelersburg. I am not originally from this area. However, while coaching in the Columbus area for 12 years, Wheelersburg and Ironton were the programs we knew about from a consistent performer in the regular season and playoffs. Maybe our buddy Fuzz is still scratching hi...

West Jeff is athletic and well coached. They spread Jackson out and win 28 - 14.

Oaks come back strong this week. They will stop Rock Hill's running game and win 21 - 7.

Re: Huntington @ WELLSTON
I was at the Wellston/Jackson game. It was a clean hard hitting game. I agree with you Blue Duck . . . Jackson didn't manhandle Wellston at all. Depth was a factor, but that is what you condition for. Wellston looked quick but not what I would call in great shape. They had some kids that looked real...

Re: Jackson at Wellston
I agree Blue Duck on your assessment of Jackson. I know it was the first game, but if they don't improve a lot, with their schedule they are 7-3 this year. They could not run the ball right at Wellston. I will stay with my pre-season predictions of 7-3 for Jackson and 4-6 for Wellston. I hope the We...

Re: Huntington @ WELLSTON
Was at Wellston/Jackson game last Saturday. I will stand by my prediction of 4-6 for Wellston. I think they had 12 penalties, a couple of turnovers, and some very poor tackling. They get a win this week, beat Southeastern, River Valley, and Aleander.

Re: Rock Hill 2014
I know Coach Knipp and believe he is a good coach and know he is a good man. He had some good teams in the mid 2000's. Not too sure what has been going on. My opinion is this . . . get away from the spread and run the wing-t/I that won games. Just an opinion. I took a peak at their weight room atten...

Re: Wellston Golden Rockets 2014
Well I'm sorry there Mr. Tranplant for hurting someone's feelings. I just gave an honest opinion of what I think will be Wellston's season. No horse in this race . . . just giving an opinion. Wellston hasn't had a winning season since 2005 (I think) and I don't think they will this year. Of the lose...

Re: Wellston Golden Rockets 2014
Same old in Wellston 3-7 to 5-5 at the very best. Youth is always the excuse. They will beat Huntington, River Valley, and Alex. Toss up games with Southeastern and Vinton County. They for sure lose to Jackson (beat down like last year), Athens, Meigs, Oak Hll, and Nelsonville.

Re: State Championships in Columbus
Just throwing a few things out there to add to the discussion; kids also dream of playing in Ohio Stadium. I know this from asking them. Most do not know of any tradition of Canton or Massillon, but they do know Ohio Stadium. If they are the home team, they will get to dress in the same locker room ...

Re: TVC: Consider this!
TVC: consider this . . . you have a very solid league that will stay that way . . . DON'T mess it up. Let the SEOAL teams sink by themselves. You don't need them and I'll bet no one wants them. To the Ohio division . . . sure Athens in dominant right now. Their athletes will cycle down. It ALWAYS do...

Why do you think it will be such a hard rebuild BBallin fool? Gallia Academy seems to always have some athletes. I was told that the players miss the way Coach Eddy ran the weight room and had the off-season players powerlifting.

Re: What was the best team in Jackson?
2011 shouldn't even be considered in this conversation. I have only seen the 1961 team on film. Seen the other two in person. Remember, we are talking different times, training of athletes, X and O's. Kind of like the Jim Brown vs. Walter Payton debate. Both were terrific in DIFFERENT era's. That '6...

Re: Coaches have no true friends do they?
Maybe the most insightful and VERY true post to be put on here EVER. This needs to go on the football forum also! Thanks CCC! Although I am very very lucky to have been able to retire early, during the 12 years I was a high school football coach I could see parents causing more and more problems. I ...

ALL saleries and stipends are negotiated by the school board and the teacher's union. It is true that some coaches get a weight lifting stipend or an assistant AD duty to sweeten the pot, but all of those are negotiated items. A superintendent can't just add that to the deal. And in this day of very...

Re: What's next for the SEOAL?
Gentlemen, could someone please explain to me why the TVC would add teams, and then split into 3 divisions? 3 divisions of 6 teams for instance means that you are looking for 5 non-league games every year and don't start with that cross division games bull. When the TVC first split, there was an agr...

RIGHT ON Steely Dan. I have been out of the coaching circle or should I say "circus" for 12 years now. Spent 12 years at the hs level and then 3 years in college football. The average "fan" and I use that term loosely, have no idea what some of these guys go through. I know Sean ...
