Re: Belpre's new basketball coach is....

Thornhill is a superb, innovative candidate for this job. It's true that Belpre lacks the numbers or talent that they had when Thornhill was a player, but who better to stick around for awhile to help Belpre rebuild it's program than the hometown hero? Short of Joe Garrett, this is the best person t...

Re: Belpre Football 2011

Belpre ended the series after its 50th anniversary, because they didn't feel they were competitive anymore. Warren and Belpre will be playing their Jamboree scrimmages against each other for the forseeable future, I do believe, to try to keep the great gate, great atmosphere, and a little of the tra...

Re: 2011 Warren Warriors

They also have a pretty good state funding system, unlike Ohio. But, ultimately, when given the chance to take local control of a school district's future, Washington County declines more often than not. Who else is returning/joining the staff at Warren Local for the 51st edition of Warrior football?

Re: Marietta High School's Head Coach Resigns?

My argument with the original post is that Andy Schob was as committed to Marietta football as anyone can be to their school. And Marietta tossed him out the door.

And my apologies on Spicer's record.

Re: Marietta High School's Head Coach Resigns?

First disclaimer, I am a Warren alum and a proud supporter of Andy Schob and the Warrior football team. Marietta should try to find someone who will be around more than 1 or 2 years. Going back to 2001, this will be the 5th head coach in the last 10 years. They need consistency, they need someone wh...

Re: Pay to Play?

I know that when I was a student at Warren, what bugged me was that I did pay to participate: I had to pay for my golf uniform, and all my track sweats, and we had to furnish our own banquets, etc. So...now that all the sports have to pay to participate, does that mean those things are covered in th...

Jeez, what happened to all the other cocky Warren fans!

I'm pumped for the show at the Convo tonight. Let's play hard and smart, Big Blue.

Let's Gooooooooo!

Re: #1 Warren vs #7 Waverly (District semi-finals)

I think my pick in this game is fairly obvious. I'd encourage the Boys in Blue to not take anything lightly...a seed line doesn't mean anything now. You fight for 32 minutes, more if need be, until you win. You play defense and rebound for all 32 minutes. Come out with the fire and passion of a true...

Re: 2011 Warren Warriors

So Warren has, at least for the time being, adopted pay-to-play, $50 this spring and going up to $100 per kid per sport next fall.
What effect does that have on the athletic program, which with Marietta leaving, could be argued to be the best overall in the SEOAL?

Re: Chillicothe @ Warren 2/11/11

Here's what I know: 1. A family friend works for the Duke Athletic Department...and they don't give away 10% of their tickets to Carolina fans. So folks, be gracious. 2. Warren's gym is by far the smallest in the SEOAL...every other school (except maybe Marietta) has better, more expansive, and newe...

OHSAA proposes revising way schools are placed in divisions

This doesn't exactly solve the issue of Public v. Private, but it's an interesting way to look at it.

Re: Leauges Your School Has Been In

Warren was a football-only member of the Pioneer Valley League from the school's founding in the fall of 1960 until Warren became a charter member of the TVC in 1970. The other sports competed as independents. Warren was a charter member of the TVC, competing in all sports until the end of the 1986-...

Re: Week 5 - Warren (3-1, 0-1) @ Jackson (3-1, 1-0)

I am no longer close to the situation, but I can tell you one simple reason that Warren went 7-3 last year (aside from the fact that they didn't play Jackson or Gallia, two games sure to be tough this year). There was senior leadership on last year's team. This year's seniors are more athletic, bigg...

This should be without doubt a more competitive game than last year, Portsmouth will be by far the most talented, most athletic team Warren has faced this season.

Re: Week 4: Portsmouth (1-2) vs Warren (3-0) (SEOAL)

Dylan Leffingwell is a new varsity starter for the Warriors, having quarterbacked the JV team last year until a midseason knee injury...he has been spectacular most of the way so far in Coach Schob's offense...certainly helps to have all the weapons that he does, though.

Re: Week 3 Warren @ Athens

Fantastic showing in The Plains tonight by both teams. Athens is tough and gritty and nailed down a Warrior offense to its lowest points scored all season ;) I want to give credit to Grant Venham...who is such a threat as a receiver teams have to double cover him and open up some lanes for the equal...

Re: Week 3 Warren @ Athens

Folks, I hate to kill the buzz here, but Warren could have gone 9-1 last year and still finished 9th in the region, out of the playoffs. going 10-0 and finishing out of the playoffs is a distinct possibility...it's great that we're 2-0 but there is SO much work to be done, and ultimately your playof...
