it looks like we no what we are going to have to work on by the time the seoal meet comes around. we should have 4 for the 4x800. me,shane, jorden and treent. what do you have coming back for the other events?

Warren has a good senior glass that ran away with the Jr. championship but Logan and Marietta has added better soph and jr. classes to close the gap.Marietta should have some freshman that could step in and help right away as well as Logan.

I'm not saying Warren doesn't have under-class talent-it's that Logan and Marietta have more to help make up the wide difference in points.

I look for only three teams to get over a hundred point and the top four teams will be from the North

noreply66,

I like your analogy regarding Warren Boy's '04 JH Team being dominant at League. That was one of those days where everything went perfect,...even the weather. (Expect buckets of rain at Athens this spring!)

We only lose two scoring seniors from last year in Bollinger and Francisco,
but replacing a 15.6 HH and 20 foot LJ will be tough. One or two impact sprinters from last year were first timers and you never can be sure whether they will come back out again this year.

Warren Boys certainly CAN and SHOULD win League in what is likely Coach Riffey's last year. I'm basing my prediction soley on the assumption that Logan graduated more talented seniors than we did last year, but you guys always seem to reload.

the main thing i am worried about is Logan's field events..... Logan is losing A LOT in these events i hope we have the underclassmen to fill in these spots......

these events should be alright Shotput, pole vault if griggs steps up,and discus but i am not quite sure on the second man..... high jump we are alright but still looking for that second man and long jump we are really hurting
If Logan is able to reload these events we will be able to compete at the league meet, if not we will not have a chance

In the long jump last year Wright came in sixth and one of the 1st 5 graduated and Wright was only 6" from 4th place. Don't know if he will do the long jump this year or not.

If Logan can get the right boys out this league championship will be won by less than 10 points for either Logan or Warren.

I see Logan and Warren fighting it out for first followed by

Marietta
Zanesville
Chillicothe
Portsmouth
Jackson
Ironton
Gallia
Athens

First places going to

shot put ---Logan
Discus------Logan
High Jump--Marietta
Long Jump--Zanesville
Poll Vault----Logan
Triple Jump--Marietta
100----------Zanesville
200----------Zanesville
400----------Ironton
800----------Ironton
1600---------Warren
3200---------Marietta
110----------Logan
300----------Marietta
4x100-------Zanesville
4x200-------Warren
4x400-------Warren
4x800-------Warren

Just with that you have

Logan-------40
Warren------40
Zanesville---40
Marietta-----40
Ironton------20
Athens-------00
Chillicothe---00
Gallia---------00
Jackson------00
Portsmouth--00

The battle will be for second. Depth is what wins championships.

Warren will have 2 in the top 3 in the 800, 1600, and 3200. They will have two in the top 4 in the shot and disc. Two in the top 4 or 5 in the 200 and 400 meters.

This Warren team will be very deep. They will score points in every event at league. Warren only lost two key contributers, and they were 4th and 7th in scoring on last year's team.

Anything can happen between now and May (injuries, grades etc.). It is really pretty early to discuss this, and we can discuss it all we want - but the races will be won or lost on the track this spring.

Good luck to Logan this spring in track - train hard!

Noreply, I would give Warren the 3200, and 800 1st place score as well if I was you.

4sporter - no - noreply is right on those - Wieferich from Marietta is the favorite in the 2 mile, and Carter from Ironton is the favorite in the 800.

Warren will be happy to pull 14 points from both of those races.

Yeah, I know they are the favorites. BUT, I dont see Cantley losing in the 800, he's not one to let someone beat him. AND Warren has not doubled up in the past with a guy running the 1600 and 3200 but if they do this year, they could put Nick Wilson (or Cantley, but if he's gonna win the 1600 and 800 then he wouldnt run the 3200) in the 3200 and he would have a nice shot at beating out Wieferich.

My opinion only.

Cantley --no way beat Carter in the 800--Carter has about three seconds on him. I even think Carter didn't run the 800 until the district.

Cantley would have to be fresh (no 1600) to have any shot at beating Carter. I'd say Tyler is capable of an open 1:54. Carter was a no show last year anyway.
Wilson and Richards' 2nd and 3rd in the 3200 will out-point Marietta and Logan. Hypothetically, Cantley could beat Wieferich in the 3200 if we had enough solid 52-sec 400 guys to get him out of the 4x4.
Coach Riffey will not subject any athlete to that kind of demand just to win a meet, but Tyler is not just any athlete...He could do it. Cruise to a win in the 1600, settle for an easy 3rd behind Majoy in the 800, etc..
