1st annual Rocky Brands Invitational @ Nelsonville-York

Post by NYBuckeye96 »

The 1st annual Rocky Brands Invitational will take place at Nelsonville-York High School on Friday, April 4, 2008. This will be the first track event on the brand new 8 lane all-weather polyurethane-coated running track that was installed a few months ago.

Eight teams will be competing:

Athens Bulldogs
Berne Union Rockets
Federal Hocking Lancers
Jackson Ironmen
Meigs Marauders
Nelsonville-York Buckeyes
Vinton County Vikings
Waterford Wildcats

This is the first major track event that I can remember NY ever hosting. NY will also host the TVC Championships at the end of the season.

The last time I was at Nelsonville's track was to to compete against Mike Hotel in the 400 in the early 80's. All I remember was the dirt track being so dry that day the runners made quite a cloud of dust.
Sounds great. Can't wait to see the new facility.

Before you have comments like that you should make sure you can back it up.

Thats not the point. The point is that your comment is pretty disrespectful to the teams competing in this meet. You just dont make comments like that, especially when there are plenty of runners who could make you look bad. You dont see them saying those things about you on here.

If things go right this year, some of the Jackson throwers should be very competitive at this meet. I was just wondering if they had new facilities for the throwing events.

In the Discus Greg James throws around 141+ and Steven Rainey throws in the area of 106-110 feet

In the Shot James goes 47 to 50 feet and Rainey 35 feet

James really didnt throw well in the League Meet, that 141 was low for him. But he went on to throw 159 feet in the discus last year, won the Division II District at Oak Hill and went on to place 4th in the State Meet in Division II. I would think he will throw farther this year. He has a lot of potential. The girls will have a discus thrower that should be improved also this year.
