OVC Girls 2018 & Review

Post by noreply66 »

Fairland was the 2018 champ out scoring Portsmouth by nearly 40 points. Graduated close to 15/20 points. 2019 field events will need some work in the long jump and shot put. Hurdles will be average. Sprints look good. 800, 1600 and 3200 will get big points in next years meet. Relays will have a good showing too.

Runner up Portsmouth didn't graduate too many girls but just one took 40 points with her. Field events have a good chance of doing well in 2019. Hurdles look good. Sprint will not be very strong. Out of the 800, 1600 and 3200 the 3200 will be the best. Relays will do better with the chance to move up with other schools graduation.

Rock Hill.....Field events will be good in the pole vault and discus. Other will struggle. Hurdles will have it days. 300 looks better than the 100. Sprints will be under average. 1600 and 3200 will do well but the 800 will be down. Relays will be above average.

Dawson-Bryant.....Field events will make a good showing. Only see the 400 doing much in the sprints. Hurdles just might be the best in the conference. See nothing in the 800,1600 and 3200. Relays will be average.

Gallia.....other than the pole vault the field events look good. Hurdles will still be down. Sprints are average. 800 will be good but the 1600 and 3200 need work. Relays will be one of the best.

Ironton.....Field events need some work. Hurdles won't show much. In the sprints the 100 and 200 look real good. Not much in the 800,1600 and 3200. Relay will be under average.

Chesapeake.....Looks like they didn't graduate any points. Field events will get their points. Hurdles will need a lot of help. Sprints will be hurting. 800,1600 will be good with the 3200 needing work. Relays below average

South Point.....Looks like they lost everything to graduation

Fairland will run away with the OVC in 2019. The girls from Gallia look like their program is coming back. If they can push Fairland a little it could do a lot for their program. I can see them taking 2nd in 2019. Rock Hill still has the girls to stay near the top will take third. Dawson-Bryant and Portsmouth will battle it out for 4th. Ironton looks to be going in the right direction and will battle Chesapeake for 6th. South Point will be in the cellar.

Gallia and Chesapeake should have no problem sending girls right up to the varsity. Dawson-Bryant and Fairland will have a few good ones that will perform early. South Point will be able to help the varsity. Ironton, Portsmouth and Rock Hill might have some trouble getting some to move up in their first year.
