OVC Boys 2018 & Preview

Post by noreply66 »

Rock Hill was the boys 2018 champ scoring 144 points. Looks like they only lost close to 15 points. Will bring back around 25 points in the field events but will need work in the long jump. Hurdles look real strong. Two thirds of the sprints look real good with the 100 meters in need of work. Might have close to 40 points coming back for 2019. In the relays the 4x8 and 4x4 look the best

A young Portsmouth team took second and lost in points the same area of Rock Hill. The field events just might be Portsmouth down fall in 2019. Long jump looks the best and the shot put the worst with graduating 13 points. Hurdles are the opposite of each other. 300 will be okay and the 110 needs work. Sprints are a lot like the hurdles with some being good and others be down. Portsmouth usually doesn't look great in the 800,1600 and 3200. Two of them has two runners scoring. Relays could bring in 30 plus points for 2019

Chesapeake was third in 2018 and lost a lot to graduation. Pole Vault looks like the only field event that will do well with returning 14 points. Hurdles won't do well. Sprints will be way down. 800,1600 and the 3200 won't return much. Relays might be average.

Dawson-Bryant.....While the top three team in 2018 score 100 or better point DB fell 6 pints under it. Lost over half their points to graduation. Field event might be their best area in 2019. Hurdles look like a nothing. Sprint don't look like much. I see nothing when it comes to the 800, 1600 or 3200. Relays will get their share of points

Gallia lost a bunch. Will score in 4 of the 5 field events. Below average in the hurdles. Sprints lost a lot but they will get help from the middle school real quick. 800 thur 3200 will be hurting bigtime. Relays will be down.

Fairland.....Fairland looked like they had a off year in 2018. They didn't graduate a lot. Field events. Pole vault looks like the only one that average or better. Sprint will be down. Hurdles will be weak. 1600 and 3200 are solid but 800 will not show much. Relays will get their share of points.

Ironton.....Still looking for them to start coming back in track but it has been slow. Three of the field event won' do well. Hurdles have nothing. Sprint have very little. 800 looks good but not much in the 1600 and 3200. Relays need work.

South Point.....Didn't graduate anything but then again they didn't have much to graduate. Nothing at all in the field events. Nothing in the hurdles. Very little in the sprints. Relays will score but not too much. Only one event out of the 800, 1600, 3200 look near average.

Rock Hill looks like they will win the OVC in 2019. If Portsmouth can get help from the middle school or new people they could give RC a run for it. Fairland looks like they are headed back up the latter to third but it will be well back of the two big guys. Dawson-Bryant looks like they will be able to hold onto the number four spot. Gallia and Chesapeake will be real close in 2019. I will give the edge to Gallia with speed coming in. Ironton in the number 7 spot and South Point 8th.

Fairland will have no problem moving into the varsity.
Gallia and Chesapeake should have some that will fit in quick. Rock Hill, Dawson-Bryant, Portsmouth will have a average amount that will move in to the varsity. South Point and Ironton might have some trouble.
