I think that is excellent. The gym was way to crowded at athens last year. did not even bring my kids on second day because it was such a mess. the only thing i hate about this is what are we going to do. have a 45 minute day 1 of this tourney. it would be great if they could make it 1 day but i know with match limitations some kids could possibly have to forfeit matches. but getting both sectionals out of i gym is a great idea.

Both the D2 and D3 sectionals that were held at Athens last year will be at Alexander this year.

is alexanders gym bigger orthis even going to be more then a mess. i do not mean a mess from the way the tourney was run. the actual wrestling seemed to go very smooth. but being a spectator was not pleasant.

Well i have at least team results from all schools involved in sectional so i will try to rank them for the first time. when i get at least some individual results from all schools i will begin to post them and rank individual wrestlers.
teams i have scene in person this year either in a scrimmage preview or match. Athens, gallia academy, warren, fairland, vinton county, marietta and jackson. hope to see all teams at least in a dual before end of month. i think i will see them all by then.
1. athens: this is as much based on reputation as anything. in person i was not overly impressed on opening night against point pleasant and nelsonville york. but i am not sure i have scene all their best wrestlers i think they will be tough in febuary.
2. sheridan: this team has a lot back and should be really solid up and down the line up. they will be my favorite from this area in a dual tourney.
3. fairfield union. looks to have great numbers and a very respectable finish at logan tourney.
4. chillicothie: i think this program continues to improve, will have to see how good their young wrestlers are and if they can be competitive come February.
5. marietta: this is the team that in person impressed me the most. they have a lot of work to do but from mid weights up very tough.
6. new lexington: i want to like this team, but i think they lack a little bit. will have pretty much a full squad i feel have been a little disappointing so far.
7. vinton county: team looked very young in person but feel last year they were great early in season and could not stay at that level througout. i think this years team will improve throughout season and be very tough in febuary.
8. gallia academy. pretty full roster but when i saw them wrestle they looked very green could improve a lot but right now results don't show it.
9. Warren: really like this team if they filled a couple of more weight classes would be very tough to beat.
10. fairland: i see one wrestler their and a lot of potential but not ready to move up yet
11. jackson: this is the only program that does not seem to be improving. they might surprise me but not great numbers not great talent.
I have been very disappointed in all the wrestling i have scene so far this year. I have not really scene in wrestlers pop out at me. They all look a little green. Almost like jv wrestlers. 83; I think you are spot on, have seen 9 of the teams and no individual(s) jump out at any weight class. Some very sloppy wrestling, on their knees, running simple moves wrong, just not very fundamental, even from the experienced kids on each team. Hope it gets better and soon.

I know their are very good wrestlers here, Like Tawney of Gallia and Parsons of warren and more but they really haven't shown impressive form so far this year in person i am going to make it over to the nutter center during the holidays for a day of the holiday tourney over there i will see athens again and sheridan for the first time

as far as teams go i think:

fairfield union: only know second at logan not sure where they should be yet
Gallia academy: seem to be a good tourney team need to step it up if they want to go anywhere in dual tourney competition will be tougher at their tourney and we will see if they should be in top 4.

Chillicothe had several kids out for the Jackson tournament, so a lot of the kids seen there were JV kids feeling spots.

Boro fan and bucksman have released updated rankings as of december 31. following wrestlers from this sectional ranked in top 16 in state or on bucksmans list as 4 best in district to go to state.

As far as a team race goes. i am doing math the same way i did last year my only problem is what my eyes see on mat is not matching up with what my math does. so i am going to list teams twice. 1st by what my math tells me so far and then by what my eyes tell me on the mat. I have scene every team in this sectional in person at least twice with the exception of f airfield union. my first look at them will be tomorrow
by math
1. galllia academy. strong up and down the roster. have had a fairly easy schedule
2. fairfield union. limited numbers and results but seem improved.
3. new lexington. numbers say this team is strong
4. athens: simply put they are athens, question level of competition but felt same way last year.
5. warren: there warren there best wrestlers are very good
6. vinton county: last year very high on this team and it sort of fell apart in late January we will see what happens over next 6 weeks.
7. chillicothie: young and good
8. sheriidan: numbers say a ton of good wrestlers but no sectional champs
9. fairland: getting better
10. marietta: very disappointing so far
11: jackson: nothing special
now by my eyes.
1. sheridan: every time i see this team a new kid impresses me. they are strong if healthy will be tough to beat
2. Athens: athens will put it all together get kids in right weights and send a bunch of kids to districts
3. new lexington: spohn is a stud and has a lot of excellent teammates
4.vinton county: seem to be coming along each week could be very tough in February
5. chillicothie: seem to be figuring it out. young but another 6 weeks they will be ready
6. warren: like where this team is going
7. gallia academy: inconstant and sometimes undisciplined looked a little better at coaches classic
8. fairfield union: to many unknowns will find out a lot tomorrow: does anyone know why oehlers is not wrestling at n.y.
9. marietta: still time for them to jell as a team
10. fairland: better then i thought they can be and coach will have the boys with talent ready to compete
11. jackson: at this time hope they can field enough wrestlers to count as a team in the count to keep this sectional.

1. galllia academy. strong up and down the roster. have had a fairly easy schedule
2. fairfield union. limited numbers and results but seem improved.
3. new lexington. numbers say this team is strong
4. athens: simply put they are athens, question level of competition but felt same way last year.
5. warren: there warren there best wrestlers are very good
6. vinton county: last year very high on this team and it sort of fell apart in late January we will see what happens over next 6 weeks.
7. chillicothie: young and good
8. sheriidan: numbers say a ton of good wrestlers but no sectional champs
9. fairland: getting better
10. marietta: very disappointing so far
11: jackson: nothing special
now by my eyes.
1. sheridan: every time i see this team a new kid impresses me. they are strong if healthy will be tough to beat
2. Athens: athens will put it all together get kids in right weights and send a bunch of kids to districts
3. new lexington: spohn is a stud and has a lot of excellent teammates
4.vinton county: seem to be coming along each week could be very tough in February
5. chillicothie: seem to be figuring it out. young but another 6 weeks they will be ready
6. warren: like where this team is going
7. gallia academy: inconstant and sometimes undisciplined looked a little better at coaches classic
8. fairfield union: to many unknowns will find out a lot tomorrow: does anyone know why oehlers is not wrestling at n.y.
9. marietta: still time for them to jell as a team
10. fairland: better then i thought they can be and coach will have the boys with talent ready to compete
11. jackson: at this time hope they can field enough wrestlers to count as a team in the count to keep this sectional.
individual wrestlers and weight classes some weight classes probably need to be updated. this sectional at several weight classes seems much deeper then last year.

sheridan class of this sectional right now will probably move 9 boys on to districts. this team could be the region 13 representative in state duals and move several kids
gallia academy: have been ripping through lesser competition at tourneys but have been a lousy dual team: have a lot of kids that look pretty good, but will know a lot more bout how good some of these kids are after hammer & anvil
new lexington: very solid team go head to head with Sheridan tonight and then at hammer anvil will know a lot more soon
fairfield union: lots of young wrestlers if oehlers is healthy could have 6 kids move on.
vinton county: lot of talent but no champ but maybe 7 kids moving on to districts
Warren: very solid team of about 10 wrestlers great shot at 3 sectional champs and 5 kids moving to districts
chillicothie: still a very young team have 5 kids moving on to districts
athens: this team is a great dual team hve not seemed to put it all together yet. with a month to go i predict only 6 wrestlers on to districts
fairland not great numbers but 3 pretty good wrestlers to move on to districts

athens: this team is a great dual team hve not seemed to put it all together yet. with a month to go i predict only 6 wrestlers on to districts
fairland not great numbers but 3 pretty good wrestlers to move on to districts
marietta: probably has 1 district qualifier maybe 2. seem to be headed in right direction with improving numbers
jackson : right now i think heavy weight cody castle only one with a chance to make it out of sectional. probably will not even have 7 wrestlers to be counted as a team

predictions this time of year are really hard. some guys are really driven and some other guys that are pretty good wrestlers are just done. you will see at least a few of these guys that should advance be done early Saturday.
