Lions 13th annual golf tournament set for Saturday, June 18

The Gallipolis Lions Club’s 13th annual golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 18, at the Cliffside Golf Course.

All proceeds will benefit the Lions Club projects.

Tournament format is: Four person scramble-blind draw-A-B-C-D. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. It will be a shotgun start.

Individuals may sign-up at the Cliffside Golf Course, or send entry blank form and check or gift certificate to The Gallipolis Lions Club, P.O. Box 436, Gallipolis, Ohio, 45631 by June 13.

The 13th annual Gallipolis Lions golf tourney attracted 43 players Saturday and more than 60 sponsors at the Cliffside Golf Course. Winning teams will be announced later.

Winners of Lions golf tourney named

Bob Hennesy, chairman of the 13th annual Gallipolis Lions golf tournament, announced winners of this year’s event held on June 18 at Cliffside Golf Course.

First place winners were Brent Billings team consisting of Greg Willett, E. V. Clark and Jody Sessions. The won $400.

Second place honors went to John Davis’ team. Players were Jay Caldwell, Norm Tarr and Herman Dillon. They won $300.

Third place winners were Dick Roderick’s team. Players were Bill Griffith, Don Corbin and Gib Milliron. They won $200.

Homer Hankins won the club’s “split the pot” contest, and donated half of the winnings back to the club. Charles Huber also won prizes given out by the club. Chris Homer and Jim Clark served as auctioneers.

Forty-three golfers took part in the event. The club had 60 overall sponsors this year.

Chairman Hennesy thanked all sponsors and participating Lions for making this year’s event a success.
