I was in attendance during those 89 and 99 games BAIT. I agree with you on the 99 game. We were sitting where we could see the LOS and he clearly got across the line to gain. Both of those Ironton teams were tough. I was also there for the Wauseon game. What a heart breaker. They were above average.
Best team Chesapeake every had was the Sonny Stowers led 1960 teams. Second best was '75 team led by Kevin Rice and Randy Bone. If the state took as many teams as they take nowadays the '75 teams would have went easily. They lost 2 games late then bounced back against CG to finish 8-2 and received votes in the final Class A writers poll after getting as high as 6th in the state.avalanche wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 4:25 pmThey were above average.
Chesapeake 1999 team went 11-1, with an undefeated regular season. They eventually lost to Amanda, who would win the state title. The 2000 team went 8-2 with both of their losses coming by a combined 3 points (Wayne state runner up, and Minford D4 playoffs).
2002 team went to the regional finals, again before falling to Amanda.
