Ironton and Ashland didn't play in 2006.
What I meant to say was longest consecutively played interstate matchup in the Tri-State. Wayne and Chesapeake have played each year since 87 or 88. They played a lot before then as well. My fault for lack of clarity.

Yes a less than avg Peake team compared to 96-05'
It's definitely huge loss of a yearly anticipated game.
I couldn't believe we lost my senior year in 04' they really got away with one, great memories. . . Hope it starts up again,
It's really dumb and unfair the schedule that a lot of wv schools have to play. . Wayne not playing Spring Valley and Huntington yearly is the dumbest most irresponsible waste of everyone's time ever conceived. Well maybe not that serious but you get the point.

Re: Whom Should Chesapeake Drop?
2011 was the best Chesapeake team I saw play on the field since 2000.
But I only saw them once, and their personnel matched up very well against Wayne that night. Wayne at the end of the season was a different animal, and while I am fully confident Chesapeake improved throughout the season too, I doubt they made as big of a jump. Wayne was probably 28-30 points better in late November 2011 than it was in August of that year.
But that's the past and Chesapeake won that game. Was the only win for Chesapeake in that series since 1999.
Wayne beat Chesapeake by 2 TD in 04... was a good football game that year. It was a pretty tough game most years. The teams were very familiar with each other schematically through that time period.

Re: Whom Should Chesapeake Drop?
Well, I can see why HHS and Spring valley don't wanna play Wayne...they wouldn't get a lotta ratings points from beating Wayne, while losing to Wayne-a distinct possibility-could keep-em outta the playoffs, or cost them home-field advantage. The only possible winner in the points game would be Wayne, who wouldn't be downgraded a lot for losing to a larger school.
But I can see Wayne shopping around to play a AAA school to replace their game with Peake. Spring Valley should be an obvious choice, given their close proximity... if the Timberwolves have room on their schedule.
But I hope Wayne and Peake renew their series in the future.

Re: Whom Should Chesapeake Drop?
Well Roby here is my opinion.
What's the point in makin the playoffs if you aren't very good?
Losing this game is a lose lose for everyone. And same with SV and HHS not playing Wayne. . Big gates an big rivalry is what makes a program into something exciting for kids to want to be part of.
And yeah 11' wouldn't be in the mix with any 96-05' team at Peake.
Haha it was the same with Pmouth. . . They were always great when we were good
I think the offensive scheme Peake and Wayne runs tends to be a bit "rough" the first few weeks, Peakea offense was always miserable at first
But if your AAA AA A supposition is correct why did Wayne play Peake?? We are A points in WV, at least when I was in school.
HHS and SV would do well to beat at "crappy" Wayne at 7-3. . . As I see that as their only chance unless they have a great team on te field, HHS does this year I think

wayne should join the ovc, but that won't happen because they was in it once then high tailed it back to wv to beat up on those rinky dink teams 56-0 every week.if wayne played schools in ohio their size, like ironton, ports., valley, they wouldn't be as successful. i seen ironton beat a randy moss dupont team 28-6, and cg beat a larry mccloud team at buffalo,41-6, and buffalo went on to win state. if ironton or cg or wheelersburg would play in wv over the years they would have numerous state titles. looks like wayne and their fans would get tired of traveling and playing horrible competition every week and up their schedule.COME TO THE OVC.

I would severely hesitate to compare the OVC then to today. Wayne is in a conference that in 2011, had three of the four state semi finalists. Wayne was pretty bad by any standards when it was in the OVC 30 some years ago.bRuIsEr wrote:wayne should join the ovc, but that won't happen because they was in it once then high tailed it back to wv to beat up on those rinky dink teams 56-0 every week.if wayne played schools in ohio their size, like ironton, ports., valley, they wouldn't be as successful. i seen ironton beat a randy moss dupont team 28-6, and cg beat a larry mccloud team at buffalo,41-6, and buffalo went on to win state. if ironton or cg or wheelersburg would play in wv over the years they would have numerous state titles. looks like wayne and their fans would get tired of traveling and playing horrible competition every week and up their schedule.COME TO THE OVC.
Say what you will about one win in 14 years. I wouldn't rely on six turnovers to happen all the time. Also wouldn't count on a kid running for 150 yards and scoring just one TD, but it happened. Once. Nothing but respect for the Panthers program and especially for Coach Davis. I think it's great they are naming the field after him. He did a great job there.
The OVC wouldn't have been much different over the past few years. Wayne beat multiple Chesapeake OVC title teams handily back in the 2000's. Some were very tight games. Some weren't. Again, Wayne beat Chesapeake's regional final team in 2002, 41-0. What's that prove? Not much. Wayne got shutout in its state semifinal game that year and lost 3 games.
Regardless, I'm curious who Wayne will find to replace them. You just never know.
