Wellston 19 Nelsonville-York 16

Post by A-Town Big Dog »

Both teams are coming off tough losses and are looking to rebound this week with their first league win. Who gets it done on Friday night?

For NY it depends on the team leaders.
They can either pull the team together and fight like hell or they can mail it in and start thinking about basketball and wrestling....

Wellston can easily walk into Boston field and beat the Bucks.

My hope is that these boys get together and play together.
Coaching staff and players really need to come together.

GO BUCKS GO!

O&B hit it right on the head. NY can win the next three, but it all depends on how they practice and the upper classmen keeping the youngsters heads up. But if they play like last night, they may lose 6 in a row to end the season. That is how even the next 3 games are.

Well my experience going to buchtel you have to beat the guys in the stripes and the fans throw buckeyes at you
On a serious note Wellston is a young team suffering highs and lows . They are getting better, last week on defense 5 seniors 1 of which this is his first year of football since jr high. 3 soph, 2 freshman. Offense 4 seniors 1 jr ,2 soph,3 freshman. Roster 10 seniors ,3 jrs , 30 soph & freshman. I hope my Rockets can go into buchtel and get the win.

There is a Senior wearing #26 who played all 4 quarters in a JV game and scored all but 1 of the touchdowns against us who should be playing with the varsity on fridays Boiler. I heard it was to punish him for quitting earlier in the season. It seems to me the he had a blast running all over and around Freshmen and Sophomores and the only ones who were punished were Wellston's younger backs who should have been playing. Not your fault Boiler but there is something wrong with that. That kid could help the Varsity because he is super fast.

Vc tp , The young man you are referring to ia a senior and has had his oppritunties to play varsity . Then quit ,the other seniors decided to let him come back . He ask to play JV along with another senior who is in his first year of football . The rest of those kids are 9th and 10th graders and they were just better than your young guys . # 23 who also ran all over your jvs is a 9th grader. Just saying ;-)

This will be the 41st all-time meeting between the Buckeyes and Rockets, with NY owning a 31-9 lead in the series. However, this series dates back to the beginning of organized high school sports, as the Greyhounds played the Rockets every year before consolidation for over 40 years prior to the 40 meetings as the Buckeyes. This game has been scheduled every year except the five year period from 1970-74 seasons. Wellston has managed only 4 wins in this series dating back to 1980. The 1991 game was cancelled due to the possibility of Wellston not being able to sponsor a team that year. NY replaced Wellston with Columbus Bishop Ready on the schedule that year and defeated the highly ranked Silver Knights 20-14 in one of the biggest upset wins for NY in school history. Wellston's last win on the field in this series dates back to 2002.

fans throwing buckeyes and striped shirts will be the least to the Rockets worries Friday night. Coach Boston is so mad about what happened at Meigs that he will have these players spitting fire on game night. Someone has to serve as the whipping boy after Meigs did the crap they did, and the officials made those calls, and sorry for you it will be Wellston.
