Adjusting to what the other team gives you and not being a hard head and sticking with your plan no matter what I hate that

Dedication in the off season and setting a winning culture and of course getting the players to respect you and developing relationships getting the kids to buy into a coachs system and IMO making game time adjustments is crucial

Being able to sit at your keyboard and tell everyone how you can do it way better from the stands is another great quality for a good coach.

Knowing the game, organizational skills, good staff, etc.....all are important. With that said, probably the most important thing I can think of is that that a coach has to care about his players and the players have to believe he cares. It's amazing how hard kids will play for someone that they believe cares about them beyond just playing football. The base of any program starts with a belief that the guy in charge really cares about those in the program.

Winning. Play the best players that give the team the best opportunity to win despite what the mommys, daddys, bleacher coaches, etc call for. Have a team of kids and know that they all will not like you but, they will respect you; respect is returned to the players. At the amateur level, you must be a teacher of the game. Don’t fear failure...it’s going to happen.
