Will do a game report with pics later. If #11 for Central doe not leave the game due to an injury, this would have been a running clock game.

Licking county fan: 1) you don't know that is true. 2) West lost one of their best to injury in the 2nd qtr also. 3) who cares what you think!.......It was an exciting, hard hitting game played by two teams who left it all on the field

I find it hard to believe that one player turns a 2-Point game into a 30-point game.

Does Shadyside beat Wheeling Central if 11 is out.

Game started out terrible. WC had the ball and the wind. The wind never slowed the whole game. WC is great in the kicking game and good at passing. So West got in the hole. 2nd and 3rd quarter when West had the wind we could pass so we came back

WC has alot of speed and size at the receiver position. #4 was a great player. He was the difference. Proud of West for hanging in there and never quitting against a good team

Yes by a lot.
Though in talking to a W.C.C. guy, who went down to get word on the QB, he will be playing next week. There was no serious problems with the injury, that will lead to him missing any future games. The kid is a difference maker on both sides of the ball and was by far the best player on the field.

Yesterday afternoon I drove approximately ten minutes to Lakewood high school, to watch the neutral site game between Wheeling Central Catholic, WV. and West Portsmouth. Central(7-0) came in perfect on the season, while West came in 6-2. Central has a two way stud Curtis McGhee III, A talented quarterback and a strong safety on defense. He is a difference maker, especially as a quarterback.

Jordan Waterhouse would set up the first Central score, when he took in a pass from McGhee for a 22-yard gain. The score came on the drive's fifth play, in the shape of a 33-yard run from super talented Braden Price. The dude has another gear and it was displayed on this play and many more during this contest. The point after from Jacob Rine would make this a 7-0 Central lead, with 10:33 left in the opening quarter.

The Maroon Knights were at it again, with 7:45 left on the clock, when Price reversed field and then ran for 14-yards.
Then on the eighth play of the drive McGhee would plow in from a yard out. The point after kick increased the Maroon Knights lead to 14-0, with 5:26 left. McGhee looked to get a stinger on the run and was done for the day. The injury turned out to be a slight separation.

West would fumble the ball away on their next drive and the Maroon Knights would make them pay, in a big way.
Facing a fourth and eleven at the West thirty eight Central would go for it and the decision turned into six points, when Anthony Robbins tipped the ball to himself in the end zone,to make this a 20-0 game.

The Central defense would get to Josh Berry for a eight yard loss, with Braden Price and Anthony Robbins combined to make the stop, with 10:37 left in the half. From there West would punt the ball away a few seconds later.

Anthony Robbins would pick up 38-yards when he hauled in a pass from backup quarterback Jacob Rine. The 15 play,83-yard drive ended on a 10-yard run from Braden Price, when he again reversed his direction and then used his speed to make the score, putting his team up 26-0.

The Senators, who are your basic run first team would go to the air to pick up 40-yards, on a nice catch from Joey Cyrus.
The big catch set up the score from Isaiah Norman, who caught a nicely thrown ball from Dylan Bradford. The point after kick from Luke Howard was good to make this a 26-7 game, with 1:06 left in the half.

The West defense was fired up and with 53.8 seconds left in the half,Chase Howell got to Waterhouse for a five yard loss.
The Maroon Knights would get a little revenge from its defense, when Payton Marling picked off Bradford to end the half.

West would get a 20-yard pick six from Bradford on a pass thrown by Rine. A two point conversion pass from Bradford to Cyrus made this a 26-15 game, with 9:31 left in the third. The West defense had become a force, after their rough start.

The West defense continued to control the tempo and this showed again at the :44 mark of the quarter, when Trevor Skaggs plowed down price for a loss of six and brought up fourth and fifteen for the Maroon Knights.

The quarter came to a close on a 6-yard touchdown run from Bradford, A two point conversion run by Garrett Hurd made this a 26-23 game. Through three quarters the crowd had been treated to a good game.

With 9:03 left a miss tackle by West allowed Waterhouse to pick up 21-yards and then a short time later,Rine found Marling for a 16-yard score to make this a32-23 game.

Bradford would be picked off by Robbins with 6:39 left in the game and then he was picked off again by Marling with 3:55 left.
Bradford does throw a nice ball, the little he does get to throw it, but in the heavy wind and a stack secondary, who knew the pass was coming made things practically impossible to be successful.

After seeing the refs call a pass incomplete that look to have been picked off by Luke Duplaga, Bradford would make the most of his second chance when he fired a strike to Isaiah Norman, for a 59-yard touchdown, with 3:55 left.

Central would get a nice run of 19-yards from Rine, with 2:23 left.
Rine would drop back to pass with 22:8 seconds left, but the Senators William Journey was there to make the pick, giving his team a one in a million shot to make the improbable comeback.

West had time to run three plays, two runs and one completed pass, but time ran out on them before they could any more than the 24-yard they totaled in that play sequence.
