Thank you for posting this. I watched this last night and couldn’t believe my eyes. The coaching staff of Dunbar showed disbelief at their own players as I am sure they were shocked by it more than anyone.

Hopefully the proper individuals are punished and the rest of the team can try and pick up the pieces.

Remember...a hs soccer player in Utah punched a referee in head. Sadly, Ricardo Portillo died a few days later. The kid got 3 yrs in juvenile prison...if I remember correctly.

I was taught to walj over to an official...raise my head and say " Sir, I got a question about that call." Politely explain and thank the official afterward. Hell, I shook the refs hand as a sign of respect. Didn't help but the ref shook my hand after the game. Said he appreciated my kindness.

I believe they got in trouble in 2016 for playing a player that graduated and it cost them their trip to the playoffs

Absolutely disgusting, kid should be suspended and game forfeited. It's the 2nd quarter and you're mad over a penalty you obviously have bigger issues in life than playing football if you are willing to act out like that. Not only to get caught up in the emotions of his initial hit but then to have the nerve to try and go after another referee as you're being escorted back to the sideline.

Been to many of games at Welcome that involved the Dayton Public Schools and have never seen nothing like this.

That’s just crazy. Said player even tried to go after the head official while coaches were forcing him off the field. Also appears another player was going after another ref but was pulled away.

If you watch closely there had to be a bunch of verbal stuff going on.
The said player was very upset about the penalty being called on him and was even arguing with his teammates.
The penalty was marched off and offense came to the line to run a play. At this point it doesn’t appear said player is doing anything (unless he’s being verbally abusive). At the .55 second mark of the video Ref that gets assaulted is making motions for him to leave the field and head official is walking that way and motions for clock operator to stop play clock. At this point said player turns to the ref with the altercation and head butt ensues.

I would love to have heard everything that was said.

Hopefully, the Dayton Dunbar administrators and the OHSAA do a complete investigation into this incident.

If the official tells you to leave the field, you leave the field. Let the coaches talk with the refs.

It would appear to me that he was tossed for language and he should be. I don't care how much the "f" word has filtered into everyday life, it will get you tossed out of a game in a second and you should be.

All the talk about suspension is certainly justified but honestly, this is a criminal matter. He should be charged with assault. Without knowing him and only seeing this one incident I still believe he needs to be dealt with in a stern fashion. A temper like that, not brought under control, will probably cause him to take someone's life in the future if he's not turned around.

I expect him to offer some type of excuse soon as in the official called him a name or whatever. If it's accepted, they might as well prepare him a cell for the future.

We played them over there back in the 80's and you wouldn't believe some of the stuff they were saying to us. Stuff I would never be able to repeat on here. It was really classless and scary at the same time. They were really good that year and running up the score on other teams including us. So this really doesn't surprise me much for this school. Hope that player gets what is coming to him.
