As I predicted, Logan’s first win on the season. Should win 4-5 games.

At the end of the 2nd quarter. Warren went for it on 4th and goal. Came up short. After the play there was a dead ball foul, unsportsmanlike on Logan. They replayed the down. Should it not have been an automatic 1st down?
There was not an unsportsmanlike foul on Logan. The foul was a personal foul face mask against Logan. Half the distance to the goal and replay the down.

But I was told on here that the offense would be much-improved because the head coach was going to call plays….lol

According to an article I read, it is the correct call.

"Under National Federation of High School Association rules (which Ohio high schools use), the only defensive penalties that carry an automatic first down are roughing the passer and roughing the kicker/holder."
The penalty that is being questioned was not an unsportsmanlike foul. The penalty was a personal foul facemask against Logan. Half the distance to the goal and replay the down (4th down in this instance).

There are 4 penalties in high school football that carry an automatic first down. They are: roughing the passer, roughing the snapper, roughing the kicker, and roughing the holder. Those are the only automatic first downs in high school now. Defensive pass interference DOES NOT constitute an automatic first down any longer. That was a rule change several years ago.

He calls great plays from 20-20. Just can’t figure out that red zone.

The Head Coach schemed and prepared all the plays for the offense last year as well.

Gets a lot tighter down there, not easy for anyone unless you can just bully people. I don’t think Warren is capable of that so naturally it’s harder imo.

You do if you’re trying to break tendency or can’t win up front. If a team is stacking 9-10 guys in the box you have to try something new. I don’t disagree with you for the most part but you do throw if you think that’s the best way to score a TD. Disclaimer I wasn’t at the game but sometimes you have to change it up.

The QB should be able to read the defense to a certain point or the coach in the box should see something to relay to the head couch to signal. The QB should have some knowledge of the defense period. Maybe he was given something to look for right before the play and what he saw wasn't really the defense that was really going to be played. Too many things can go wrong for the offense and the defense can get it right or draw some luck. All part of the game. Knight to Queen......WHAT
