Re: CHECK OUT IRONTON FOOTBALL.COM
Can anyone tell me who was wearing #41 in the scrimmage last night? I hope to see that kid on the field alot this year. He runs harder than any back I've in quite a while.

That is Paris Birchfield, a 6'1" , 205 lb Junior. Should see his share of reps.

Re: CHECK OUT IRONTON FOOTBALL.COM
From what I saw last night, Freeman or Brice would have to take a seat. I think Birchfield coughed it up once but the long touchdown run where he punished the DB near the goalline looked a little like Beanie Wells!

Ironton looked awesome.
Take away some mistakes by several secondary players who have never played before in addition to the strip for a TD and the score is 1 TD to 0 TD at halftime.
That's impressive considering that Ironton was playing against Greenup County's 2 sophomores and 1 freshmen as TNT's during the first half!
The 2nd half was similar to last year's scrimmage -- numerous substitutions and who cares how many TD's were scored as long as our players received some reps.
Tobias, sounds like excuses to me....You got it handed to you plain and simple....I was working the visitors gate and could hear every word you said to the offensive lineman during warmups....

As a side note about GCHS, we have to replace several OL from last year's team -- which is not an easy task. The following former players had substantial OL time in 2007.
Ratcliff
Yates
Abrams
Fore
Meenach
Newberry
2008's starting OL is all Seniors; however, only 2 of them saw substantial playing time in 2007. We rotated in 4 sophomore linemen frequently in the first 3 quarters of action. This group will make huge contributions to the team over the next 3 years.
Therefore, out of the 9 players who saw varsity action Friday night on the OL, only 2 of them have substantial varsity experience. This is not an easy task for a coach or team going up against Ironton out of the shoot.
That experience for your Sophomores will only make them better and will help out in the long run. The next 3 years or so should be good. It's good to here Craft is ok , good luck to Greenup Co this season.
