First off, people have bought in. 100% that is why knowing the talent we have and the results bother us so bad. Offenaively, i believe everyone can agree Coach Crabtree is supported 100%, so is the majority of his staff. May not always agree with play calls, but hey who does. He has however shown that he can get the kids to perform, and give what is needed to at least conpete, and not give up..

Secondly, everyone bought into the defense as well. It is not about believing, it is about results, or improvements each week. We have been going in reverse. Kids have litfle fire, in bad positions to stop the run, and out of position, with limited to no safety help.

Programs, and dynasties take time to build. However even losing improvements should be seen each week, not the same, or worse. Adjustments, schemes, players, etc. The defensive plan is awesome, but not awesome based on the kids we have. Will it work? sure in a few years time with the right type of kids who have been taught from peewee up.

If there is too much outside of football happening, or you cannot seperate yourself from it, then coaching is not a good choice. You cannot provide the time, energy, and leadership needed to get the kids to perform for you.

It isn't about how soft rhe kids are, they have thick skin, and have taken a lot of a@@ chewings, and coaching moments. Maybe it is about the coach, and his way of doing things. Just maybe we quit giving #'s as our problem, because talent is there. We should at least be stepping in the right direction, not back tracking each week. Do not count OH, they are struggling as we are.

VALLEY needs to drop plain and simple. There should be no wait, and if there is the SOC should think about how NW was suppose to be 3yrs, and look at it now. They vote every year, so it is possible to go next year. If not then maybe time to look at other conferences, or an independent schedule for a few years.

Northwest has no business in SOC 1, based on #'s and they never should have been allowed down for so long.if they cannot compete with scholls their size, time for a new conference, or an expansion of our conference. Time for them to go up or move, Valley needs to drop for 3 years. Simply we have talent, but lack depth, and have a lot to figure out defensively. SOC needs to quit catering to schools 2 to 4 times the size of schools they are playing. #'s alone change outcomes. If you dont agree that is fine, but schools like that can do the same change conferences, or go independent. Thumping your chests when you are literally 2 to 3 divisions bigger then who you play? Come on.

This would really benefit schools such as Valley, Northwest, and Oak Hill. It just so hard to compete in football with a 35-man roster playing schools with rosters twice as big.

It may be a few years before it happens, but I think those 5-5 seasons for Valley will turn into 7-3 seasons or better when they no longer are forced to schedule Waverly, West and Burg. Also, better numbers are on the way from the junior high program. Just rambling at this point, but I hope the Valley faithful are realistic and give Coach Crabtree time to establish his program.*

I don't think valley should be in SOC2 either, but I was told that's where they want to stay, and they won't even entertain the idea of moving down.

Waverly made their strength of schedule evident in this one! Good win for them! I am amazed at some of the comments I am seeing, belittling kids on here is absolutely ridiculous, let’s face the facts people none of these kids will be relying on a football contract to pay their bills……………take a break on calling kids out, especially when you are hiding behind SEOP username !!!!

I don’t know who called out kids on here. But I agree. Kids don’t need to be called out on here at all.
The kids we have in our system are not the problem when it comes to the results like tonight. It’s just we are short on numbers right now. It will get better.
The kids are doing all they can.
Anybody playing this sport for any school is giving up their time, and body to create memories with their teammates. That should always be the most important thing to remember.
We will get our numbers back up and compete just as we did in the past. It will take a few years. But we will get there.

That’s one thing.

But the understanding that (when we are not strong) we struggle. That’s where we are in football right now. The numbers are down. The “Big boys” are not there right now (IN NUMBERS) in this program. We have a few. But not enough. We will get there again. But people need to understand the truth. And accept it. It doesn’t change overnight.
Our biggest weakness is our linebackers they never make a play and always look confused or they miss tackles. #56 again was abused all night by a kid 100lbs lighter than him. 56 should be a all state tackle but just seems to not enjoy playing football. Not sure a change of philosophy is what’s needed a change of heart and attitude is the only thing that will save this program. The whole valley school system seems to have gotten soft.
This is the post I am referring too! 🤷‍♂️

Perhaps his wording wasn’t right but izladoom Is a huge valley supporter. I took it as more of the kid is out of position and doesn’t look like he’s enjoying playing.

Well. It’s not one group’s fault at all. It’s a numbers issue and playing bigger schools. I tried to make that point earlier that we haven’t been very good against these bigger schools in 6-7 years. It is hardly any of the kids fault, just as it is hardly any of the coaches faults.
Our numbers are down in the school system. Plain and simple. The kids that are out there trying are fine. And they are appreciated!!

Maybe it's time to get out the torches and pitchforks against waverly being in SOC2 They are the biggest school by a pretty large margin.

Waverly isn’t the problem in my opinion. They have not dominated this conference ever…
They don’t have much in the next few years I don’t believe. They certainly won’t be contending for a conference championship in the next 3 years. Trying to change the makeup of a conference is tough.
It changes every year. It would be nice to have flexibility for some of these schools (like Valley or Oak hill) to play down when they need to. But it’s very tough to change schedules to make that happen.
When we were in SOC 1 in the 90’s, ppl cried for us to get taken out of there because we dominated that conference. It just is what it is.
Our program just needs a little bit of time to get going.
The culture is a hard thing to change or repair.
But we will be back.

I think if Valley cashes in on those missed opportunities this is a 53-35 type game we’re probably having a whole different conversation. As many have stated, this isn’t an overnight deal. We have good kids in the system, getting them to stay and play here at Valley, is starting to work, you see the numbers at the Jr High and lower levels as well.

I don’t think coaching is the true problem, it’s horses…we just don’t have the horses across the board at this time.

We all want instant results, we all want wins, we all want Valley to be “back”, so let’s give them some time to do that.

There are such short memories when it comes to this stuff, not long ago Valley was coming off a 3 peat in the SOC 2.

Do I think Valley should move down? No I don’t, they have competed in this conference, they may win the conference in Hoops and on the diamond, so athletics wise we all know Valley competes in the SOC 2, they’re not just a punching bag.

Yes, the numbers are low right now, but as many have alluded to, help IS coming, players are staying, the community is invested. We will take our lumps, get up off the canvas and get back in the fight.

Go Indians!!

So i guess it must be what it i since it is neither coaches or kids fault right? So lets give everyone a trophy for trying right? It is the fault of the decision makers, which in this case is the DC.

If the defense cannot perform the 4-4 , and struggle all year, why not change the defense? Yes ,i know the 4-4 or 4-3 is awesome and the best ever, but if you dont have the right mix of kids it does not work. Seems simple to me. If not enough strength in LB core to run 4 then lower it to 3 line backers. Heck swap to a 5-2 use 2 current lb's as faster down lineman on defense, save the bigger guys till goal line.

Ofense has adjusted all year, and made changes as needed, defensively we have not. Paper makes every defense or offense look good, and yes it should work flawlessly, but we dont have the personnel needed to do it. So that is a Coaching call...specifically the DC. Time to go to the drawing board,

I’m fine with changing schemes or whatever works. Sure.
But was it the DC’s fault last year vs Waverly? 42-14. Or 2 years ago?
56-10?
People are acting like this is a new problem and changing a few guys around will fix it. It’s gonna take a few years, not a few days.
But yeah sure, if a scheme change will make a difference, I’m all for it. I don’t think it will.
Go look up the results vs Waverly In the last 7 years. We will improve but it will take a little while. That’s all I’m saying.

As for tonight if some of those passes was not overthrown valley would had 28 in the first half because they was completely open. I will call out the coach for his handling of the qb situation. There is no logical explanation as to why arnett who is our strongest runner and has started at rb for 3 years gets the starting qb over a qb who has started for 3 years at qb. Some say it was so arnett could run but we only called for him to run about 3 times a game so that didn’t make any difference. This was the worst loss I have seen valley have and not because of the score but because valley had every opportunity ti keep the game close they just didn’t execute. Coaches can only call the plays players have to execute. Waverly could not cove the receivers in the first half. Maybe if nickel started all year and had that timing with the guys things would be different. I still think if nickel started all year we go into this game 6-0 or 5-1. I say have valley move Down when northwest moves up valley will be down for a couple years then I’f they turn it around then might move back up. Sorry this is all over the place it’s just seeing the team I love and support go out there and just look lost is a lot to handle.

Blame the QB and the offense? In the 3 L's valley had prior to Waverly the offense scored 84 points while giving up 119 points. Last night Valley scored 7 and gave up 60.
