These polls go to show only one thing.....the people that get on here from each school and vote. When it is all said and done, the results may be sooooo different than the 20 or so fans that vote on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Piketon handed 'burg's rear ends to them, as they were a much more physical team. 'Burg had one good drive but fumbled the ball. I counted six turnovers by them, and two INTs went for a TDs. Actually, this is the worst I've ever seen them. They have no offense line. They have one big tackle but he didn't block anyone all night. The backs ran like they had no confidence in their line, and only the sweep and quick pitches seemed to get any yardage.

Piketon did their best when they went straight at them a played a smash mouth game. Traps, screens, and counters worked well to counter their speed and blitz packages. Which I thought they were blitz happy and they did get burned. Piketon did put together a 16 play drive that fizzled out in 'burg red zone due to a back-to-back holding call and offsides call.

Actually both Picks would have been 6.

I was impressed with the speed of their Defense.

My money is on the Mighty Mimford Falcons. Honestly, there is nothing like having a hometown boy - Coach Daniels - deftly lead a team to success after success the way he has. And talent? Come on, it's as if GAWD his self came down and gently touched each and everyone of them boys with agile athletic ability. With legends such as Oesch, Ethan Hockett, Seth Howard, T.J. Alley, Mark Slone, Josh Grahm, Tyler Fitzgerald....THEY ARE UNDEFEATABLE!!!!
Top that off with a POWERHOUSE non-conference schedule including such teams as Wellston, Oak Hill, and Huntington; let's just say that the Black and Orange 3 W's, the Lucasville Purple Indians, and the Mochicans of the Northwest Territory have little if NO chance of standing against such an unstopable force.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, The burg lost 9 starters on Off. They have the TB and FB back. On Def they lost 7 starters. This is not college ball. They will be hard press to repeat as SOC champs this year. If they had such stud Juniors coming back they would have played last year.

oldcoachb;

Right here, and if you read you would see my prediction for the Indians this upcoming season on the first or second page; every since then it has been a **** swinging contest between Burg, Minford, and Waverly posters....why would I join in on that mess? :?:

Burg offensively returns 3 incoming seniors which contributed significant minutes as juniors last season at FB, TB and TE. Defensively they return a LB, CB, DE, SS both DT and NG which were in the starting rotation which only leaves 4 poistions to fill.

I have said it before the key for this Burg team is to find and fill the consistent OL spots (same as last season) and work out the ability to pass the football and they will be fine.

Come on. I love the Falcons, but lets be realistic. These kids arent legends, they havent even won a ballgame yet. Their record is 0-0 and they have everthing to prove, or to lose.

Burg, West and Waverly are going to be tough to beat. Minford has the ability and talent to do it, but a couple mental mistakes and the game swings the other way. Look at Burg vs Minford last year. A couple key turnovers and mental mistakes and Burg won.

I like Minford's chances this year, but it will not be a cakewalk.

Amen SB, legends???? I am really confused by this, these guys havent even won an SOC title, they havent even beat Wheelersburg, cmon lets get real. Talk like this garbage, is what will ruin our Falcons, lets be more realistic.

I'm not talking about them cake walking anyone. I think every SOC team will be a dog fight with Minford coming out on top. If all the talk about the place kicker at Minford is true then it will probably come down to him winning the games.

I have browsed these and other forums for several years and have never posted til now. This thread has finally promted a comment from a usually silent reader. So here we go.... first of all I played at Minford so you will all know I am not a burg poster..... second what the heck are all of you people smoking???? I have heard all of this crap for years and years "hey wheelersburg is down this year" or "hey burg looked terrible the other nite" its just simple this year as every year the title run will have to go through the burg... who this year as every year will be contending for if not winning the soc...havent you idiots been paying attention for the last 20 years or so!!!!

I must say I was at the Piketon scrimmage last friday, from that showing I would say the Burg will be down this year. THe defense was pretty good but the offense was offenseive. White was the only one to show up ,the QB position will be a problem this year and the line , forget it. Well, we've had a good run , I didn't think I would say that I would miss Tony Lewis but sometimes you don't know what you've got till you lose it.

Tony Lewis was a fine young man and a good coach and will be missed by many. This isn't to say that the new coach isn't, but he just hasn't had the chance to prove himself yet.
Here's hoping that he does well for himself, the team, and the school.

laugh all you want but NORTHWEST will compete and win some games in the soc 2. these kids are playing with pride, spirit, a chip on their shoulder or whatever you want to call it theyre tired of being the butt of everyones football jokes. theyll be playing with the best 12th man. JD RIP. They will not lay down to anyone this year, even wheelersburg who has handed it too us for god knows how long. Coach Thompson not only has these kids believing they'll win but knowing they will win. and if the parents leave him alone he will build a good contender in ohio's largest school district.

I said this a while back, and people didn't believe me. Lewis was a heck of a coach. He took a couple teams that weren't near as talented as the result and devised a scheme to overachieve. Selfishly, as a West fan, I'm glad he's gone. He had our number. Maybe he saw this coming, and got out why the gettin was good because he knew what the expectations would be with that Junior group. I know it was his home school that came calling, but with all the success he had, it would be hard to leave.

Not to take anything from Piketon and I heard the same from my friend that Burg looked sorry. But I do know Burg's QB had an injury on his throwing hand.

Folks, Folks, Folks......
I think that we all need to stop here for a minute, calm ourselves, take a deep, soothing breath, and let the following wise words wash over us as a calming wave:

"Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.

But they got, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

Everybody's got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine,
It don't matter that you got not alot
So what,
They'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine.
And together we'll be fine....

Because it takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Yes it does.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world."

Amen and God-Bless Gary Coleman................ :aaaaa59
