Minford will put a competitive team on the field. Wheelersburg always does.

But the SOC II will come down to Valley and West this year.

I'm not hating on Valley, but they are one injury not happening from going 0-3 against Wheelerburg, West, and Minford. They haven't beat Minford in 5 years, let alone Wheelersburg.

Since joining the SOC II, Valley has 11 league wins, 5 of those coming from Northwest, 3 more from Waverly in the post Trevor Walls years. Until they beat Wheelersburg or Minford I can't pick them as a favorite to win a gold football.

Valley will have a good squad. But they will finish 4th in the SOC II this year. People will count Burg out, West and Minford will be strong and Waverly and Northwest bring it up the rear. Just the way it will be.

I dont see Valley being very healthy at the end of the year against Minford. Valley will have just as good skill players, but I see Minford absolutely dominating the LOS.
thats the way we like it- count us out just like this past season-Go Burg ;-)

Unless a bunch of kids that haven't played, play; or a bunch of new ones show up, this could be the worse burg team in many-many years.

I agree but I hope everyone keeps saying that and I hope the players are listening.

I think it's safe to say that all of us on here cant wait for football season to start and it's only mid January. All predictions aside I think we can all look forward to an exciting SOC 2 season there will be some great games with really 4 teams that can take the crown .

Wing T qb's are FAR more important than spread passing QB's.

West and Valley in '11

Yeah The Babe! Nobody thought Burg could do it last year...valley's too fast...west is too strong...minford is unstoppable...and look what happened??! you can't count anybody out this early...yeah it seems like Burg is losing a lot this year too...not only Schank, but their whole line that he ran behind all night every single friday night, Graf, a hard nosed blocking back, and an all around increadible defense. (one man team, HA!   ) but really its too early to count anybody out, i mean the boys are just now getting back into weightlifting...its way too early to tell who from the SOC II will come out on top this season...

as far as the whole Minford/Valley ordeal....watch it on VSN...it is blatantly obvious that he got in...but that stuff happens...you deal with it and come back the next season with a vengance...

Too early to tell...but pullin for the PIRATES to WORK HARD this winter summer and fall to come out on top AGAIN!!!

you take an average team with good coaching and better preparation, they can beat a much better team anytime. That's why I'll say burg until proven otherwise. But should be a very good 4 way race

I absolutely agree with you...its not always the team with the most talent i.e. burg 2 years ago...west and valley last year...but you are absolutely right. Whoever prepares and works hardest this summer and in season will come out on top...cant wait to see it happen and should be a good close season...

Everybody knows why West didn't win The S.O.C. last year. Things happen, and BREAKS go one way or the other. You take the best player off of Valley (Yates), West dominates. You take the best player off West (Pendelton), its a helluva game. You take Shank out of the Burg game West dominates. You take Pendelton out of that game, its a helluva a game. Everybody at the end of the season that barely beat West, without Compton and Pendelton. Keep thinking your going to out work West. West works extremly hard in the weightroom. I know there are teams that powerlift and are really strong. But from lineman, to backs, to qb's. I put my money on West!

2012 West!

and that's another point, nobody can predict injuries etc. And they are just kids. Mistakes and injuries are unpredictable. Let the kids work hard, play hard, make some good memories. Let the adult's cheer there kids on or favorite team on with class and dignity. This shows the strength of a good conference when you can sit and argue the point for 4 different teams actually having a chance to win the gold football.

Yeah, Schank is a huge part of the team...the TEAM ...Burg wouldn't have won anything without the line that DOMINATED every SOC II team last year, diversity in running backs with Graf, a developing passing game, and a defense who has ALWAYS been able to stop Pendleton...Burg has been able to stop him every year, and were completely prepared to do it again...in fact, many were upset that he didnt play because they knew excuses like this would be everywhere...it is obvious that burg had the strongest and most well prepared TEAM last year...

As for the upcomming season, as I already said, Burg will be losing a lot of talent from the line, defense, Schank, and Stegman as a receiver and is looking like an average team for next year, but lets just see what Woodward can do with this bunch who is being doubted on as much as last year's SOC II Champs!

as for west....with or without pendleton, Burg still wins the First Annual Halloween Bowl LOL!!!

uhm got stopped the majority of the time in a nasty cold rainy game while wests line and other backs played extremely well and the speed of the burg team was negated due to the weather...west won and thats that...but burg always has been able to stop pendleton...look at last year's game...

and if we are playing the injury card, what would have happened two years ago if Lang wasn't hurt and Schank was at RB?
