Dundas wrote:Vinton Co is going for their first 3-1 start since 2004. One statistic that really jumps out at me is this...this team has scored 99 points in its first 3 games. That's the most in VC's first 3 games of a season since 1993. That stretch (1994-2012) included 3 TVC Ohio championships and 1 playoff birth. This years team has also scored more points in 3 games than the 2011 and 2010 teams during their entire seasons. They also only need 17 points this week against Prep to surpass the total scoring from last years team.

Would love too see some stats of past players Dundas!
Top 5 all time rushers, passers ect

Anyone know what V-C's best record ever was before Jack O'rourke's tenure?

Interesting question!
Had to be when Tom "Meat" Reed coached in the late 70's thru the '80's. I think he had 2 back to back years of 5-5 and then 6-4. That's relying on my memory, due to the fact that my brother played for him. His son Tommy and the Bolander boys aslo played in that era.
To the best of my remembering of the 70's was a 3-7 season in 1973.
Dundas would certainly know or know how to do the research to find out.

I can see this team realisticly going 7-3 this season, 8-2 if the ball bounces in thier dieection and they stay injury free or at least cut down on last season's injuries!

GO VIKES

7-1 in the first year consolidation, Coach Dave Bolender. Then after that I think Coach Scott Blakely went 6-4 in the late 80's, 1986, I think.

Nice work Dundas. Hope this team can make a little history. Injuries are what scare me most. Depth is what hurts VC. The bad thing is that the depth is in the halls of our school. If we can get to say 7-3 I wonder how many players will come back out or come out and be part of what this team worked their tails off for. Hopefully we get back to our winning ways tomorrow. GO VIKES!!!!

Nice work! I knew if anyone could find it; Dundas would.
I forgot about Blakeley, but thought Bo's 7-1 season in1966 came while still McArthur Generals?
About the experience being in the school halls, that is a very correct statement! I remember a young man kicking field goals in middle school who has not played in high school. He is a senior this year.

Good luck tonite Vikes

Viked man...1966 was in fact Vinton County's first year of football...however, they did play that season in the McArthur Generals uniforms because the maroon and white Vikings were chosen by the first classes at VCCHS during the first week if school. Not enough time to order and receive jerseys! Lol

Forgot to mention this but HP's field is not grass. It is similar to AstroTurf, it might be "FieldTurf" but I'm not sure.
