About like you’d think....
I'm pretty sure it ended CG 6-5. Don't quote me, but i think the CG lineman won most of their challenges. Burg is an awesome team as always, glad Grove got a chance to work with them last night.
Yea that's the final score that I heard too. I also heard that Wheelersburg defense had 6-7 ints, with CG having 3. Sounds like our passing game needs a little work.
Having Nate as QB the past few years didn't leave much time for anybody else to get much QB experience. I think our QB now has good potential, just needs a little more time to settle in to high school football. Hoping the line can help him out with that

I would think so. In two games against the Pirates, Salyers is 13 - 29 passing for 116 yards with 1 TD and 4 INTs. The Pirates came out on top in both games as well.
Why would they try to pass at all? My guess they will hand it to carrico about 90% of all plays
I don't think Ironton will throw it around much at all. I was just referring to Salyers likely being a little extra motivated to prove his worth in his last outing against the Pirates, after having 2 subpar performances. I agree with you about Ironton's approach. They will likely feed Carrico and Brownstead the ball most of the game.
If Ironton does not mix up with run and pass this will be another long night for them again...

I agree. In my opinion, if the Pirates can force Ironton to throw the ball, the pendulum swings in our favor significantly. We have good athletes on the perimeter and in the secondary. If we can get pressure on Salyers and push him out of the pocket, I think we force him into mistakes. Overall, I like our chances this year, even though a lot of people are guaranteeing that we lose to Ironton.

Not sure I agree . Burg got trucked last year by a smash mouth run team . I would think that the 2019 ironton team would be much more physical than that team . But I’m hearing Burg defense will me much improved

Johnstown-Monroe ran the triple-option out of a flex formation, and they did not run very much between the tackles. The triple-option is a totally different animal to prepare for and stop as a defense. Ironton likes to run between the tackles, which is not nearly as hard to prepare for and stop as a defense.

Yes agree but I think irontons physicallity will be an issue for Burg. That’s how I would attack burg anyways . Slam those big backs up in there then let Salyers pull it and go.

What you mention is also a possibility. I am anxious to see how Ironton's defense responds if Wheelersburg comes out with the fast-paced offense that we have grown accustomed to seeing from the Pirates the past few seasons.

Not set yet. He’s been running x, y and DE and free.

Using tempo w a green Qb increases probability of penalties and turnovers.

You are correct. I’m not sure I’d call three of the four “green”.

Ahhh I see. But you would call a div 5 team made up around 70 or so boys 4 deep at the qb position? Lol.
You're cappin. 😂

The QB position is very vital in burgs complex offense. 3 of the 4 playing for the position have played that position in the lower levels.
