As Bob Bowen on WSAZ-TV sports out of Huntington, Wv used to say: "THE MIGHTY MINFORD FALCONS"

South Point has a nice young team that hung in there and fought hard all night. Nothing to hang their heads over. They played hard and will have a very nice team when those younger kids get a year or two under their belts.

Minford had some really bright spots, but they showed a few areas of big weakness too. I think that Butcher played a very good game. That kid can FLY. Piquett also played a GREAT game and ran the ball with force. I think that Piquett has improved a ton from last year and may be one of our best backs. Turnovers made the game a little sloppy on Minford's end as they moved the ball well all night but ended drives on turnovers. Minford will score points, and I think that if the middle of our defense can step up and play more physical we will be fine.

Big game next week at Wellston, as the Rockets always play us tough and they have a good team this year. Falcons will have to really step up if they are going to make it back to the playoffs again this year. They definitely have the coaching and the talent, just have to see how much heart this team has over the next few weeks.

South Point played alot better than I thought they would.Defense was decent except for a couple of big plays that led to touchdowns and the offense moved the ball all night long but when they go to about the 30 yard line they would stall or had penalties.

Good Luck the rest of the way Pointers.I think we can compete for the OVC this year. But the when the young guys get a year or two they will be tough.South Point has a freshman starting at linebacker and a freshman running back that got his first touchdown tonight. So future looks bright,

Falcons looked good tonight but have some areas that will need improving. There was some slop as far as ball security and penalties but I'm sure that will be addressed this week. Butcher looked very good, extremely fast. We have the making of a multi-head monster in Minford with all the skill guys we have. The McCray boy came in played some pretty good defense, especially considering he is only a freshman. Would've liked to have seen the Falcons capitilize on their oppurtunities and scored at least 14 maybe 21 more points to get the 1's out early and work on some depth with the younger guys. Overall a win is a win, the Falcons have some work to do but I think we'll be just fine in Minford. Falcons will need to learn from this game and tighten it up another notch for wellston, that will likely be a slobber knocker of a game.

It was a nice win for the Falcons. They showed that SPEED does KILL!!! And proved that #5, and #3, can take it to the House, on any play. The offense showed alot of talent, and some bright spots. The line needs to pick it up a little, they had a hard time picking up their blocks on the smaller, faster defensive line of SP. But for as young as they are, they can get better.
As for our D-fense, well I am going to be good, and try to be nice!! There are some real soft spots, and some holes, that we need to fix. But there are some bright spots also, #34 looked real good. And #2, #5, #52, and #70, all looked good at times. I think that even though we are lacking depth, we still are able to field a very good D-fense. Next week will be another big test for our D-fense, because Wellston is always tough, and will come right at you.
One more thing, #75 played a great game, coming off the bench. He looked good on both sides of the ball. It's good to see young men work hard, and get a chance to help the team.

Good Job Falcons, way to go out and get a Win!!! And even though we didn't look the Best, at times, we still got the W. Keep your heads up, and keep trying to get better. You have a big Bulls Eye on your backs, and everybodies waiting on you to fail!! Don't let it happen because of lack of effort, keep getting better, and keep working hard!! Remember, you have a bunch of Crazy fans out there that will stand behind you no matter what!!!! And Coaches, we might even stand behind you also!!! LOL!!!

One more thing, I would like to say that South Point played a very good game. They showed a lot of Heart, and did't give up. I think their coaches have them going in the right direction. And it will show more and more, as the year goes on.

Great job, and good luck on the rest of your season!!!

I would also like to say that South Point had a great crowd out for a road game I was surprised when I walked in and saw that many people over there hopefully it will stay like that and get even better for the home games.

yes indeed.....no one is saying it but Minford looked real sloppy. Yes it is the first game but the inexperience showed. The offensive line needs work and lots of it or they will be in trouble in a few weeks. The defense is very soft in the middle and the LBs need to step up. pretty clear some players are playing out of position or in positions they have not played before. hopefully slone gets some love next week after having huge gains to only be taken out so someone else could score. come on. If he works that hard to have those types of gains let him score!

I am sure Minford will get better but it better happen fast. There was some bright spots but a lot of areas need work. congratulations on the win. time to start preparing for wellston. oh and south point did not quit and showed heart even though there coach made some dumb calls like going for it on 4th down on there own 30. still a win is a win. get number 2 next week Minford.

I don't know how you can complain about Slones chances to score!!! He got just as many chances as anybody. He just couldn't get it in. He made a great run to the three, and had another great run, before the took the ball away from him, that he could have scored on. #3 scored twice, on some great runs, of his own. How can you say he didn't deserve them?
When you get close, what better weapon can you have, than to use your big name back to take the D-fense away from the ball. Everybody will be watching Slone on all short yardage plays this year.
There's no doubt Slone will get his TD's this year, and yes he deserves all he gets. But when other teams see this film, they will know that we have two other backs, #3, and #27, that can get the ball across the goal line. And don't forget, we have probably the fastest QB in Southern Ohio!!!
