I can not fault the Head Coach a step up to the MAC. Back to square one for Vinton County!

Wow, never thought he would leave after only 1 year. Might be easier to promote an assistant up than to search for a new coach at this time.

Lots of potential candidates. Some of the possible replacements would be:

Jason Snider - played at Navy. Former college assistant.

Nolan Yates - former head coach at VC, current assistant. Teacher at VC.

Jon Lindner - former assistant at VC. Current track coach and teacher at VC.

Marcus Games - former assistant at VC. Current wrestling coach.

Jack O'Rourke - former VC coach in early 90s.

Jeff Downs - former VC coach, current teacher at VC.

Justy Burlson - former VC coach, current teacher at VC.

Cory Hanes - current assistant and teacher at VC.

Tony Lamb - current assistant and teacher at VC.

Shane Wolford - former Jackson coach.

Terry Hale - football guru, current golf coach at VC.

Matt Queen - former VC coach during the late 90s.

Plenty of quality replacements in and around VC that could possibly take over.

Strange... there are a lot of former VC coaches teaching in the school...

You can add former VC standout athlete Chris Bethel to the list as well.

Jeff Downs and Matt Queen would be at the top of many coaching list... I would say if Jeff were interested he would already be coaching somewhere with all the success he has had in his short career. Shane Wolford would be a very good choice if he could bring some of his past assistants with him but I think it would be hard to get them to leave Jackson and Oak Hill, they all work together very well though. Nolan Yates was very average but blessed with some good talent but could get them through one year while they search for a replacement. Justy was just as average as Yates IMO he just ran into talent at South Gallia... as for the rest of the list I am not familiar enough to have an opinion.

I'd be beyond shocked if Wolford would leave Jackson. I'd guess you have the same chance of getting Andy Hall.

I think you mean Travis. Chris' older brother. Although if Travis we're to be the new head coach, I'm sure Chris would be on staff. Both were great athletes at VC and went on to play at Union College.

While I may think I know more about football and have studied it for many of years, I am dedicated to the Vinton County Golf Program. I have many unfulfilled goals and a few hopes and dreams that are yet to be realized. Therefore, I will not seeking the position of head football coach. Thank you.

With the late departure of the HC, where does this leave the Vikings in the TVC Ohio race? They may struggle to win a game in league play.

They could have hired the guy who was the architect of every trick play in the Gamblers playbook. Instead, they hire the one hit wonder and now they have to look around for a coach again.

The best coach ever at Alexander and Nelsonville York is currently unemployed. Can someone explain why he wouldn't be on the short list?

Some of you have no clue. You think that looking at simple wins ands loses make a good or bad coach. Maybe take a look at the level of talent that each coach had while they were there. Look at the level of competition they had to play with said talent. Also, look at what some of these coaches have done since they have left. Get a clue people, there is a big world out there. What happened 20 years ago may not mean much in today's world of high school football.
