Article:Northmont 35 Butler 00

Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

Last night was my first trip to Vandalia. The stadium was very nice, with the only downside being the P.A.System was horrible.
The fans on both sides were loud, as were the cheerleaders. The game was over after the first score, but at the time one had no clue to this. Nor did one have a clue how one sided this one would be, when all was said and done.

Just :16 into the game Junior #28 Devin Kenerly 5-11 / 213 would scoop up a Butler fumble and race untouched into the end zone for the games first score. Senior #31 Nick Winchester 5-10 / 175 easily converted the point after kick to give the Thunderbolts a,7-0 lead. Winchester looked to have a 50-yard leg.

The Aviators teased the fans with what appeared a strong running game when talented running back, Junior #35 Logan Flatt 5-11 / 185 saw a tiny hole and went for a 23-yard run, with 11:28 let in the quarter. The drive fizzled out quickly after the nice run. Early on, one could see that the T-Bolts line play was going to be a huge plus for them.

The strong line play from the T-Bolts showed its talent and muscles at the 5:34 mark of the quarter, when Junior 44 Justin Syfox DT 5-8 208 got to Sophomore 12 Mason Motter QB 5-11 160, for a short loss. The T-Bolts along with good line play seem to be overall the quicker of the two teams. And as the game got older, this would show more and more.

At the 2:11 mark of the quarter #19 Brenden Reck QB Sr.6-1 151 found #80 Jordon Meriner TE Sr. 5-10 195, opened for a 30-yard score. The point after made this a,14-0 contest. This was a 7-play, 84-yard drive, that had 3-running plays and 4 passing one.

With 6:50 left in the half, #17 Kelynn Taylor Jr. 5-10 181 scampered for a 11-yard gain and then 1:39 seconds later the T-Bolts made this a,21-0 game when #28 Devin Kenerly 5-11 / 213 ran over a would be tackler and scored from 12-yards out. The kid also is a linebacker and he showed that mentality on this powerful run. The point after again was made easily by Winchester.

Flatt would gain 13-yards on a nice run with 4:43 left in the half, but again the drive flattened out a short time later.

Senior #59 Dylan Sagers 6-0 / 215, MLB would stop T-Bolts ball carrier Junior #17 Kelynn Taylor 5-10 / 181 after just a 2-yard game and force a punt, with 7:07 left in the third. The score would not show this, but over all the Butler defense, who was put in bad spots all night by its own offense, did not play all this poorly.

With 4:48 showing on the clock Flatt was stopped by Sophomore cornerback, #8 Danny Lewis 5-11 for a short loss.
The quarter ended without either team scoring,as the defenses rule the frame.

Butler picked up 17-yards on two plays, the first was a 10-yard pass thrown by Sophomore quarterback #12 Mason Motter 5-11 / 160, QB and the other seven was on a run by Flatt. It seemed the home team had a little something gong, but another fumble was scooped up and return for another T-Bolt score. Making the scoop and score was, Sophomore #99 Gabe Newburg 6-5 / 200. The point after made this a,28-0 game.

The final score for the Bolts came on a 1sweet catch by Junior #1 Jabari Perkins 6-0 / 180, WR, who made a sweet catch on the pass thrown by senior quarterback #19 Brenden Reck 6-1 / 151, with 3:51 left in the game. The point after made it a,35-0 whitewashing.

Junior #95 Dylan Moran 6-1 / 183, Nose Guard would make a nice play with 8:30 left in the game, when he tackled Butler quarterback and forced a punt.

Another fine powerful run by Kenerly totaled 12-yards with 7:28 left in the game.

Both of these teams are above Dayton, why even post it? Not trying to be rude.
