Game Report? Fairborn 38 Stebbins 00

Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

Last night at Fairborn Memorial Stadium, the home team Fairborn Skyhawks played host to Dayton Stebbins. The Skyhawks came in just 1-4, while the Indians limped in with an 0-5 record. When all was said and done the home team had earned its second win of the season, while the Indians were scalped again, this time to a tune of 38-0. This was homecoming for the Skyhawks and the average side crowd on the home side left very happy, while the smallish size crowd on the visitors side, left wondering if their team could compete, with anyone that was left on the schedule.

Just about three minutes into this one James Hurt rushed in and got the Indians quarterback, Ryan Minor for a 3-yard loss. On the next play Minor, who got zero help from his offense linemen was sacked again. This time it was by Jayden Brown 6-3 / 245. Minor looks like an athlete playing quarterback and on the two sacks, he had zero chance of getting the ball off, even with all of his athletic abilities.

The Skyhawks offense looked to do better on their second drive of the game and with 5:25 left on the clock,Kj Redmon 5-11 / 192 used the dominating work by his offensive line to go 13-yards right up the guy of the Indians defense. This play would set the tone for how much the big boys up front for Fairborn would dominate this game. Redmon would go 10-yards for the games first score, after a bad snap caused the point after attempt to be stopped, the Skyhawks had all of the points they would need in this one as they led 6-0, with 4:29 left in the quarter.

Minor would be sacked again as his offensive line was a step slow as it allowed #53(NOT ON EITHER ROSTER I HAVE)to get to the quarterback. Minor seem to hold the ball too long, it appeared he could have thrown it away, but he seemed a little hesitant in what he should do. With 3:14 left in the quarter, things were already looking bleak for the Indians. Minor threw a bad pass, with 2:48 left on the clock and making the easy pick for the Skyhawks was James Hunt, who took it to the house to make this a 12-0 game.

On the ensuing kickoff Hunt would recover a fumble by the Indians return man. This would not be the only problem in the return game by the Indians, but it was the biggest of many. The last score of the quarter came with 14:5 seconds left in the quarter, just nine seconds after the Hunt recovery. Hitting pay dirt for the Skyhawks would be Redmon once again, this time it was from a yard out, to make this an 18-0 game.

Minor, who throws a beautiful deep ball was able to connect with #2 Rashawn Benners on a long bomb that covered nearly 35-yards, with 11:47 left in the half. Benners had a step on his defender and easily made the catch. Uncle Mo would not stay on the Indians side very long because of another interception thrown by Minor. Making the pick this time for the home team was,Dawson Blakley 5-11 / 170,with 10:36 left in the half.
Redmon would go for 20-yards with 3:50 left in the half to give his a first and goal from the Indians 1-yard line at the 3:50 mark of the quarter. Just seven seconds later THE LICKING COUNTY FAN PLAYER OF THE GAME, KJ REDMON would squeeze in for another Skyhawks touchdown. #25 Damion Day used his strong right foot to make this a 25-0 game.

The Skyhawks would get one more good play in the half, when #3 Jordan Greene 6-0 / 160 picked up 33-yards with a nice catch and run.
The two teams headed to the locker room, with the home crowd ecstatic and the Indians crowd left wondering if their team could score.

With 8:06 left in the third quarter Minor would be sacked once again, this time it was by #4 Mark Peterangelo 5-8 / 155. The sacks were mainly due to the defensive line dominating the Indians offensive line and then Minor would hold the ball way too long, making things even easier for the defense.

A 34-yard completion for the Skyhawks by #11 Shaunn Monroe 5-11 / 160, took the ball down to the Indians 1-yard line, with 3:09 left in the quarter.#1 Wesley Watts 6-3 / 205 would ease in for the score to make this a 31-0 game. A block punt by #15 Brandon Becraft 6-2 / 250 got things started for the Skyhawks offense on the drive.

Minor would be a huge hit from #4 Mark Peterangelo 5-8 / 155, causing a 2-yard loss for the Indians, with just 1:47 left in the quarter. The Skyhawks defense got another sack on Minor, when Becraft got to the quarterback for a big 11-yard loss.

With a running clock all throughout the fourth quarter, the Skyhawks still found a way to score one more time. The score came on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Watts to #3 Jordan Greene 6-0 / 160, with 4:23 left. The final points of the game was the point after kick by Day, making this a 38-0 scalping of the Indians by the Skyhawks.

I had them for zero yards in the 2nd half.
They struggled against a one win team.

2 areas where the Air Force Base has a lot to do with their enrollment and talent. Makes it tough for them to ever be consistently good, even with their size.

To many good schools in Dayton in close proximity. Any time Stebbins has a player he transfers out. Same with Fairborn, beeverceeek. You want to play football in Dayton you go to alter or Wayne or trotwood. Much more talent spread out in basketball however
