Week 9: Logan (2-6) AT Hamilton Ross (0-8)

Post by loganlocos »

Logan will make one of the farthest road trips in school history when they visit Hamilton Ross in Butler County.

The Rams are 0-8 and under first year coach Kenyon Commins. Despite their 0-8 record, the Rams have largely been more competitive than last season and have not allowed 40 or more points in a single game despite a struggling offense.

Ross will be looking at games with Logan and Oxford Talawanda (also 0-8) as a chance to finish with a pair of wins.

Logan executed on offense but couldn't contain the athletes of Dublin Scioto in last week's loss. The Chieftains look to close the season with a pair of victories over Ross and Warren (0-8).

I know I said no must-win for Logan this year but this is close to one. Warren is not a true test for the Chiefs. Not sure if this one is but a loss will say much about the state of the program.

I'll be blunt...... I think the program needs an overhaul now. Ross is a terrible program and has been for years and years. A loss to them would indicate rock bottom for a Logan program I believe has been badly mismanaged . When players are run off and others won't come out, the handwriting is on the wall. Don't kid yourself. Players who vote with their feet kill an otherwise strong school with good athletes. Coach personality trumps all the Xs and Os you know. If you don't get the horses out, the program suffers. Mismatches with larger, stronger programs is a given but getting blown out by smaller programs or worse struggling with your long established peers is a clarion call. Losing to Ross ( or worse, Warren) would be an easy call to cut your losses and start over with new blood and try to encourage the athletes to come back out under a new regime.

Good luck to the Chiefs.

From looking at the sidelines last week I can only find one jersey number not with the team anymore. Don't believe there has been a mass exodus.

Program needs a jump start. Someone needs to make playing in purple and white matter to the school and the community. The players on the field are playing with pride. They need some help to turn that into improved results.

There isn't an easy fix. But there needs to be some steps taken to figure out why the bodies aren't there and how to fix it.

It's not the kids who quit. You don't need those players anyway. It's the kids who drop out from the early years in the program. You have to bring those kids forward who question why would I make that commitment. I think attrition from junior high to the upper classes is critical. There are athletes in the system.

...and it has to matter to the community. Look, Bill Sauer field is gone. But it's not the venue, it's the product. LOGAN has to embrace the team again.

Does being in the Lancaster system hurt Logan's coach? Would bringing in coach that played this system help this coach? But would Logan be able to run that system if so would Logan fans go for it? If it produced winning I think so.

I must say the attrition from Jr. High to the HS has not been that bad, It is keeping them from Freshman to Sophomores. Also the Soccer team has exploded at Logan, which can not help the football numbers.

Problem is the powers that be have already pushed it in this town dazed. The youth soccer leagues are every bit as good as football and maybe better. They start playing as young as kindergarten they even got jr high soccer now, that can't be good for football. Other schools have soccer and some still have successful football teams but all I know is Logan is pretty good at soccer now from top to bottom so maybe that is indeed where a lot of good athletes are going now days :( Doughnutgate, I like it
