Why polls don't mean a thing

If I am not mistaken, Massilon has won numerous poll championships throughout the years but has never won one on the field since the playoff system was started in 1972. Our '79 Ironton Fighting Tigers won the State Championship without being ranked in the top 10 all season. They stuck us at number 10 after the final game victory over Jackson propelled us to the region championship. We beat two higher ranked and good teams to win it all, Hamilton Badin and Akron St. Vincent/St. Mary. I am sure there are other examples of this throughout the OHSAA playoff history and SEO will never get the respect in the polls given to the big city schools.

Burg, west, and Nelsonville-York are getting love from the polls.
I don't care a whole lot about them to be honest. I like that people are reconising our kids for their hard work.

Actually Burg has been getting love for some time now. I don’t see the “neglect” you are speaking of. There have been a few others as well. I believe Zane Trace got love in ‘15. Athens in ‘14. I’m sure there are more. But I believe it is all a perception thing. If you play the victim you are sure to be one.
