If New Philadelphia losses to Dover both could be out Dover should win

New Philia 18.4 with three L2 games. New Philadelphia needs two of three if they lose to Dover to get ahead of Athens
1. 8-1 Claymont vs 9-0 Indian Valley. D4 points
2. 3-6 West Holmes vs 3-6 Mount Vernon. D2 points
3. 3-6 Cambridge vs 7-2 Meadowbrook, D4 points
Thats depending on a athens win over Ny..
I think Ny beats athens ..

Yeah Athens vs NY is a toss up. Athens knows it has to win to get in. NY has everything locked up

With the conclusion of last nights games, it officially became week 10 of the 2017 high school football season. The marque match-up will undoubtedly be taking place on The Plains when the undefeated Buckeyes take on one loss Athens for an outright TVC-Ohio championship and the Doc Kroner Trophy. Since the game was moved to week 10 in 2010, this will mark the 5th time in 8 years the TVC-Ohio title will be decided on the field between the two teams. Since Athens joined the TVC in 2008 they have won or shared the league title 5 times, while the Buckeyes have won 4. Athens also holds a 5-4 advantage in head-to-head match-ups since 2008 and Friday’s game will mark the 10th meeting between the two rivals since Athens moved from the SEOAL to the TVC. Nelsonville-York won the first three in ’08, ’09 and ’10 with all three games being decided by a touchdown or less, including two 1-point wins in 2008 & 2010. The Bulldogs then went on to win five straight before the Buckeyes ended the skid with a 41-24 win last year in Buchtel. Friday’s showdown will be broadcasted live on 105.5FM & 970wath with our Athens County game of the week crew calling the game from high atop the press box at R. Basil Rutter Field.

Wished this could be part of a double header with West v Burg at OU... Going to be a great one

Why don’t events like this ever happen? Is it because schools don’t want to lose their gate revenue or what

In this case, it is senior night for the dogs and their seniors want to play at home one last time.

Oh I understand at this point in the season. But early in the season I think an all day showcase would be cool to see and all the teams could split gate

I know on this site we talked about doing something like that for Athens county week one.
Nelsonville-York vs Trimble
Alexander vs Federal Hocking
Athens vs Logan
Week one.
The truth is that we really don't want to give up the home dates. Nelsonville-York and Trimble is a huge game and the attendance is BIG. Then you have Alex and Fed and that's not exactly 2 fan bases that turn out. At the end of the day teams want to play at home and they want to keep the gate money plus concession sales to themselves.
Money matters.
Once you figure in 50/50, game ball tickets and some of the other things.

Lose too much money. Athens has used Pedan and the Convo for regular season games. Not much money to be made

I would have said NY all day until last Friday, Athens may pull this one out. At their place is worth something. I will say Athens by 5 in a barnburner.

I'm not sure Athens can hang with NY for a full game.
I think NY comes out on fire scores 2 quick TD's Athens scores one then NY Scores 2 more before halftime.
My prediction is NY 42 Athens 26

Schedule of events Friday Oct. 27th: We will be going live from Rutter Field at 6:06 for an hour long preview show on 970WATH & 970wath.com. The Jambulance will also be parked at the stadium Friday for a live remote and giveaways, including Ohio Bobcat tickets to their showdown with Miami. The Power 105 game of the week crew of Ryan Boyd and Lukas Moore will then have the call for the TVC-Ohio championship with pregame around 7:15 on 105.5FM or wxtq.com and 970wath or 970wath.com. Boyd graduated from Ohio University with a broadcast journalism degree in 2014, can be heard doing color commentary for the Bobcats on Saturday's and has been calling Athens county games for the past six years. Moore is a current journalism student and has been doing games the past two years. Neither have ties to Athens or Nelsonville-York and will be able to provide a fair and unbias call of Friday's important league championship game.

This will be the 38th all-time meeting between the Buckeyes and Bulldogs since consolidation of both schools in 1967. However, Nelsonville had annual rivalries for decades prior to that with the original red and black Athens Bulldogs, as well as with The Plains Indians and the Chauncey-Dover Blue Devils.

In 49 years the series has NEVER alternated wins. Always been a series of streaks. Armed with that info - there is no way NY can lose?

lol

Thanks for the info NY96 ... good stuff

Athens wins people say that big fish should have won. They fall to Little NY they are the laugh of SEO. This is what happens when you are the big nothing in a good small league.
