WELL UNTIL SOMEONE KNOCKS EM FROM THEIR PERCH THEY ARE THE OVC CHAMPIONS. THEY HAD A WONDERFUL YEAR. ESPECIALLY UNDER SUCH A NEW 1ST YEAR HEAD COACH. I GOT UNDERWEAR OLDER THAN HIM. AND HE CAME IN AND JUST ROCKED THE OVC. WITH THEIR ONLY LOSS IN THE REGULAR SEASON TO A VERY POWERFUL PORTSMOUTH WEST SQUAD THAT WAS ALSO IN THE PLAYOFFS.AND IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY THE WEST SIDERS ONLY LOST TO D5 STATE CHAMPION WHEELERSBURG IN THE REGULAR SEASON. AND WEST GAVE BURG ALL IT COULD HANDLE THE 1ST HALF BEFORE FALLING OFF. IT LOOKS LIKE THE FUTURE OF GROVER FOOTBALL IS BRIGHT.

That carpet could not have been very old, I thought you could expect about 20 years before replacing.

Life span of turf is 10-12 years, I believe. I think CG turf was around 11 years old.

About time. The old turf was getting really bad.

SP and CG got a better deal if they replaced their turf at the same time. Less travel and the company could work on both locations simultaneously.

That is great for both. Good that the schedules worked out that way.

Looking forward to seeing the Hornets in Week 1 come to Bidwell. I've always enjoyed the Hornet fans. Good people!

Official start of football season was today. The 2018 version of the Coal Grove Hornets should have around 40 kids if I’m not mistaken. Looking like the numbers are increasing. 25 days till week 1!

It’s nice to have a week 1 game with a familiar team. I imagine this will be at least a 2 year deal, away & home. Here recently Coal Grove has seemed to have trouble finding a consistent week 1 game.
2015- Marion Pleasants
2016- Open
2017- Buffalo Wv

You are right Matt77. As far as I know, it is a 2 year deal. Always nice to see a familiar team on that other sideline.

So Grove fans how are we feeling at the halfway point.

For me honestly after watching this defense struggle I really feel we might have won our last game this season. Something has to change or this is going to end really bad, and no I'm not over exaggerating this. This team has not played good defense and quite honestly mediocre offense all season. I would like to see them step up and show what team they truly are. One that will go 3-7 or can they step it up and do the impossible and win out. It's up to them.

Totally agree with u!!!! People talk about how weak the line is, IMO there line is doing there job its the defense that needs a major foot in the rear!!!! They might beat ports., but as far as winning the conference or the playoffs its not looking good if they don't quit playing 2 hand touch and start tackling...

This team still has the talent to beat anyone in the OVC however this team needs to find an identity. Often you see a Great scoring drive then on defense a letdown. Need to keep pressure on the opposing team after each score. We need to look to blowout teams instead of looking good on offense and think others are going to get the job done on defense. This team is good enough to win on defense too. I believe we can do it. Go Big Grove!

The phrase clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose comes to mind. Are the players looking at the end result as a TEAM or are they worrying what the stat sheet says. Are they playing as a TEAM or playing for individual glory. If they aren’t doing things to benefit the TEAM they CAN’T WIN!
