Dover and Tri Valley moving up to DII helps Athens cause in Region 11.
But even still, a very tough region, 10-0 may still be needed to get in with that schedule.

pretty sad when you have Athens faithful on here saying they have to go 10-0 to get in the playoffs. What does this say about your schedule? Soft, Soft, Soft. Last year had they beat Canal and went 9-1 they would not have made the playoffs. They would have barely squeezed in with a Canal Loss and NY win. When you go 9-1 it should be a 100% Lock to make the playoffs. 8-2 should get you in easy also. Schedule up with your non league or just be happy to beat these bad non league teams and pick on the smaller schools in your league and miss the playoffs. Just my 2 cents.

Athens has not had a losing season since 2008 when they went 4-6. Have gone 10-0 three times and 9-1 twice.

To Athens’ credit, they’ve seen more recent successes than other SEOhio football luminaries... luminaries such as a school whose name rhymes with “Shmogan.”

wellston will be a much improved team.....am I saying they will beat Athens??? on paper, absolutely not....but come that time of year wellston could be on a roll and overlooked for the much anticipated showdown with NY and they could cause the bulldogs some issues......
