Region 19 and 20 Contenders

Post by 55buckeyes98 »

With Southern Ohio getting split into Region 19 and 20 I thought we would get some discussion about next season. Who do you like? Who makes a jump into playoff contention? Who takes a step back?

Region 19:
Here are a few possible contenders that make the playoffs often or recently:
Amanda Clearcreek down from DIV (6-4 last year)
Bellaire 3-7 tougher schedule
Bishop Ready #8 last year
Chesapeake
Columbus Academy #5 last year
Coshocton 2-8 last year (they usually bounce back quick from down years)
Fredericktown 5-5 last year
Heath
Ironton
Johnstown #3 last year
Liberty union 3-7 (new coach)
Martins Ferry #7 last year
Meadowbrook #6 seed DIV Region 15
Oak Hill #6 last year
Ridgewood 7-3 last year
Edison #4 Region 18
Union Local #4 last year
Tusky Valley 4-6

Region 20: I know less about this region (miss anyone?)
Miami East (#1 seed last year not in region)
Bethel Tate (#4 in region last year)
Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (#3 in Region last year)
Madison Senior (#2 in Region last year)
Greenview (#6 last year)
Anna (#7 in region last year, not in region this year)
Reading (#8 in region last year)

Next 8 had a winning record in 2017
Carlisle
Summit country Day
Brookville
Preble Shawnee
Mariemont
Clermont Northeaster
Madeira
Madison Plains

Coming From Region 19
Minford
Portsmouth West (#2 in Region 19 last year)
West Jefferson (#5 in region last year)
Wheelersburg (State Champs #1 in Region 19 last year)

Bellaire returns 8 starters with one being the T E going to QB. QB will be a huge question mark, although he was the State Champ in the Shot Put.

I see some very tough competition in both regions.
I hate that burg and ironton are in different regions now.

The team that intrigues me is Columbus Academy. They played Wheelersburg toughest in the Region last year, wonder what they have coming back. I thought Wheelersburg played their best all playoffs against Johnstown, wish it would have been closer!
