The Spartans were a football school when you go back far enough. They were even 9-1 during one season. The Snipes era produced some fine teams and the Boston era teams were no slouches. Arno had some good seasons. Down cycle right now. I also agree soccer cuts into your skill kids at a school that size. Wheelersburg is an anomaly. Many kids that would have been playing at Portsmouth are now at Burg and I would say kids that would be playing some where else are now at Burg. Not the same situation

I will miss my times attending games at Albany. I wish the school and team the best. I'm sure I'll find my way there again sometime in the future. But the folks that showed up with the cowbells and flaxen horns (I miss that) loved rooting for their team. They welcomed and treated my son with great respect and joy while he coached there. Always will be a soft spot in my heart. Go Spartans!

Not sure of the exact number. It's in the 30s. Their last win was October 14, 2014.
