Southeastern 13 Zane Trace 10

Post by se-alum »

Big Friday night in the SVC. 4 of the top 5 teams play each other.

Not sure how I feel about ZT. They seem to struggle a bit on offense, but are solid defensively. The Panthers have been solid on both offense and defense. I see this game as a toss up quite frankly. Give me the Panthers by 1, 21-20.

Southeastern will win this one they have a high powered offense. Might be close at half then panthers pull away.

If you take out the Greenfield McClain game, Zane Trace has only scored 30 points in the other four games.

I expect SE will start leaning a little harder on Ruby now that they are into the meat of their schedule.

A team can always look back and come up with a reason as to why they didn't win. Not taking anything away from Vinton County, but Southeastern should have won the game, if not being there own worse enemy and having turnover after turnover. Should be a good ballgame. As long as Ruby is playing, I would give the edge to Southeastern.

I like SE by 3 scores, just don't think ZT has enough on defense to stop Ruby

Why didn’t ZT kick a field goal late in the game? Wasn’t the ball inside of the 15? I wasn’t there and was just trying to follow the updates.

ZT missed a FG from about 30 yards when they were ahead 10-6. Wide right. I don't remember them getting that deep in the fourth quarter. The second half was played in the middle of the field except for the Ruby long TD run. Also, SE had a TD called back and went out on downs with less than two minutes left.

I haven't seen Ruby play yet this year, but I know how good he is in football and basketball. I know he's the QB, but has anyone noticed his stats as far as rushing is concerned? He's 3rd in rushing for all the running backs. He also has a fellow running back who has very good stats as well.

He's averaging nearly 14 yards per carry.

I would say they probably run some type of spread offense. Does he roll out with the option to run or pass, or do they usually just do what the defense gives them? I'm sure he would be effective throwing the ball also.

They are rarely spread out, before Friday he had only thrown for 261 yards on the year. The ball goes through him or Nusser 90% of the time, but he doesn’t throw a bad ball when he throws, just doesn’t happen often. He averages 14 a carry and busts at least one huge run a game. He’s small in stature, but extremely quick and explosive.

Foot to Foot splits. Run at you with the power game. Clinton-Massie/Bishop Hartley style on a smaller level.
