Article: Meadowbrook 48 River View 7

Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

Using the rosters from maxpreps and hudl(Riverview roster very incomplete)

Last night I changed my plans and opted for only one Friday game, and I wound up in Byesville to watch the Riverview @ Meadowbrook game. Both teams entered this one with records of 4-3.Riverview came in off of an eight point lost to Marietta, while the Colts came in on a two game winning streak, with the wins coming over Coshocton and Union Local.

The Colts first two scoring drives covered 148 yards and needed just two plays.
The first score came on a 65 yard screen pass to Brady Blattner and the 2nd was a 83 yard run by Blattner. Garrett Clendenning connected on both point after kicks to make this a 14-0 game, with 8:20 left in the opening quarter.

Riverview would get a nice 16 yard run from Gannon Unger, who avoid at least five would be tacklers to get the yards he did get, with 7:20 left on the clock. The drive would continue to move slowly downfield, with Garrett Clendenning plowing in from 4 yards out, with 5:33 left. The point after kick made this a 14-7 game and it appeared we were in for a good game.

Riverview had the ball back again and with 2:48 remaining in the quarter, Unger would connect with Cowen Croft for a 29 yard gain.
From there the drive went downhill in a huge way, because the Colts would sack Unger two times in a row.. The first came from Clendenning and the 2nd from C.j. Moore. The Black Bear would be forced to punt and on the return Blattner would make a long return to the Black Bears 35 yard line.

The Colts would need just 6 plays to cover the 35 yards needed for their next touchdown. The score came on a 7 yard catch by Devon Norman on a tight pass thrown by Davis Black. The point after kick was good, making this a 21-7 game just three seconds into the 2nd quarter.

The Colts would use a Black to Blattner 20 yard pass to go up 27-7. Blattner was wrapped up tight, but shook loose the would be tackler and then sprinted into the end zone.

When the Black Beard got the ball back the drive was short lived.
First there was a sack on Unger by Clendenning, then Clendenning picked Unger off to give the ball back to the Colts, with 5:04 left in the half.

Black would hit Boston Black for a 21 yard gain. Boston Black used a nice little move to pick up some extra yards on the play. The pass play set up a two yard touchdown run from Blattner, after a two point point conversion try was successful the score was 35-7, with 2:06 left in the half. The Bobcats needed 9 plays to go the 68 yards needed to get the score, with 7 of those plays being passes.

Te Colts defense would get one final play before the half ended, with Caleb Wilson getting to #11(NOT ON THE ROSTER) before he could gain a yard.

The second half was played with the running clock , which caused just 36 total plays to be run.
The Colts would make the most of theirs as they were able to score twice and could have scored a third, but took a knee deep inside Black Bear territory to end the game.

The Colts defense would start things off strong and when Devon Norman teamed up with C.j. Moore to stuff Unger for no gain to bring up a fourth and nine the theme was set. On the fourth down try to Black Bears trued to use the feet of Unger to move the chains, but the Colts had none of it and forced a turnover on downs, with a little over two minutes going into the quarter.

Blattner took in another screen pass from Black to pick up 24 yards, with 9:36 showing on the clock.
The Black Bears defense showed some life, when they got a 18 yard sack on Black by Collier Snow, at the 8:53 mark
The Colts would convert a fourth down try, when Black hooked up with Norman, for a 33 yard gain. Timmy Ferguson ended the drive with his 11 yard run. The point after kick would make this a 42-7 game.

The final score of the game came with 3:34 left and it was a long 74 yard run from Mr. Everything Brady Blattner.
Croft would block the point after kick to keep this a 48-7 game.

In the fourth quarter, with the 2nd units in the Colts defense would get a very nice play, when Eric Mcculloch teamed up with Timmy Higgins, to sack #15(NOT ON THE ROSTER).

Most of the rest of the final quarter was the Colts 2nd unit working the ball inside the five of the Black Bears only to take a knee to end the contest.
